Have a 2014 regular cab 4X4 auto. Need to haul my lawn mower to some property we bought. It's just 4 miles from home but my mower weighs 4000lbs. With the weight of the mower and trailer I am overloaded a bit. It's around 6500lbs total. I will only pull it a few times a year. Just wondering how the truck will handle it.

You will be fine. Just go slow and steady, leave plenty of room for stopping. Brake way early. Consider a trailer brake controller if your trailer has brakes.

That's one nice machine! I'd be out playing in the yard all day with one of those. Dig a hole, fill it in, dig another hole....

A 4 mile tow shouldn't be an issue as long as there's brakes on the trailer and it's not a 10% grade climb the entire way.

I wouldn't put that much weight behind the 4 banger... Just asking for trouble in my opinion. It's not that far away, if you're in a rural area, just throw the hazards on and drive the tractor down the shoulder of the road. Where I grew up, people did that all the time.

I didn't realized it was a 4 cylinder. That's a bit of weight to be pulling around.

I have thought about driving it there but with no shoulder and almost all highway did not excite me. We met with the house builder today. He cannot start our house until spring 2016. So the property will need to mowed and our house in town needs mowed also. So it looks like there will be a lot of hauling going on.

Looks like the tractor, mower, loader and tiller weight about 4200lbs. Now add a trailer and it is getting heavy. The road is flat until the last mile and I will need to climb a pretty good hill then about half way down I have to turn onto a gravel road. Only have to drive on gravel about 1000 feet then turn into our future 1/4 mile driveway. My wife and have talked about getting a 3/4 ton truck just to haul the tractor. I do not want to trade the Taco in but really do not have a use for 2 trucks.

You will be fine as long as you take it slow and stay careful. About a year ago or so, they used a Tundra to pull the space shuttle. It was all a publicity thing, but it was for real. The shuttle is significantly over the Tundra's limit. If they tried to haul ass with it they would have run into serious problems, but they just took it slow and careful.
Do it once and see how it goes. If after that you feel it was a bad decision, explore other options, but for just a few times a year it would not be worth getting another truck. Worst come to worst you can just rent a truck for those few times when you have to pull the trailer.

Getting a trailer brake controller installed. Should be ready to load up in a couple weeks. Still need to do final paperwork on the property. Then we will be loading up and heading out.

The trailer I was borrowed had no brakes or lights. The wiring is a mess. I loaded my mower. Did not go to the property but just drove around for a few miles. Did ok but lacks any extra power. Braking, will need the trailer brakes fix before I pull it again. Do not know if we will buy the property now. Found out there is an easement for a road to adjoining land. The road will basically be within 25 feet of the house location.
