I was feeling kinda risky today and just wanted to drop some cash on a set of new 16” rims because the vinyl inlays I put on the stockers were peeling off and looked like crap.

4 different shops told me there’s no way they would have 16” 6 lugs in stock. Everyone wants 18-24” wheels.

WTF is this. Is this normal? I would have thought more tire is preferable over rims but I guess where I live is full of weirdos.

anyone able to get 16s somewhere readily available?

Most trucks run 17-18 minimum for brake clearance. 16's are almost gone with the dodo simply due to caliper size.

Same reason you don't see 14-15" rims for cars often anymore.

I definitely understand being spontaneous, but if I were spending the cash on new wheels it would be a carefully thought out decision and I'd be willing to wait for shipping.

Might have more luck with 17s? 16s are starting to become less common but 17 is the "standard" size for off roading (if there is such a thing).

With most car and truck manufacturers equiping new vehicles with 18" and 20" wheels these days....when people "upgrade" they dont go down in size.

^This. No way I'd limit myself to whatever some random place happened to have in stock as it would drastically limit the selection and IMO most of the stuff sold at local tire shops look like garbage anyway. Find the wheel you like best then find wherever you can buy it for the best price. You may be surprised that you'll be able to get a better wheel for the same or likely less than a local shop.

good points guys, I just put the 265/75/16 Duratracs on my truck about two months ago so I’d probably like to stick with them for at least another 40-60k miles.

I guess I’ll just order either KMC or Fuels for the best price. I have been shopping for wheels forever but am the kind of person that needs to have it in front of him to pull the trigger, because I’m cheap and will continue to justify the stock rims until forever if I don’t do it that way
