I recently lifted my 2012 taco sport 4x4. I lifted her 6" and am running a toyo open country 285/75r17 with fuel hostage rims. I just got it back from a local 4x4 shop (3 days ago) and took it to get an oil change. The lube technician asked me to come into the bay and take a look at a problem with the right front axel. I looked and saw there was grease spattered all the back the frame and all over the new fabrications done by the guys at the 4x4 shop. What would have caused this? I have not done any off-roading. I have driven the truck really easy to try and get use to the lift and new tires. Do I need beefier axels?? Is this something the 4x4 shop may have done?? Should they be responsible? I feel if this was a problem before the lift was put on it would have been brought to my attention by the shop. Any suggestions? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Any help would be appreciated!! More details on the truck..

The front axles turn all the time 4X4 or not. Maybe some one with a 6" lift and better CV boots can help you out.

3 days after the lift install on a 2012 truck? Take it back to the 4x4 shop.

CV boots don't usually fail that fast. It's likely they nicked the CV boot while doing the install. They can fix it. It's not that hard.

Don't wait. Do it today. The more time passes - the less leverage you've got when negotiating with the shop over when it happened and what caused it. If you can't take it in today - at least call them today.

I quit driving it. I'm afraid the axel will lock up. I have a rental car. Is it ok to drive? I do think the boot just has a hole in it

The off-road shop said to call them Monday because they are busy but will look at it
