Currently planning out a build for my Tacoma. Sticker says payload is 940.

If payload includes passengers a large portion of the builds on here must be overweight by quite a bit. Seems like people aren’t concerned.

How bad would it be to have a truck loaded to 75-90% payload constantly (500 to 600lbs in bed + passengers)? Camping trips would probably be at or a couple hundred pounds over. Going to get my truck weighed to confirm sticker value.

Are you trying to do a permanent mod like a rtt or are you just loading the bed up with camping gear?

I trust a commercial CAT scale more than the remaining payload sticker. The payload sticker is known to be off by a few hundred pounds on tundras. What matters is total gvwr.

CAT scales are pretty accurate as the government wants their tax money… they are calibrated like gas station pumps are.

What's the payload on a Rav 4? I have been seeing more of those, that look cool but they could also be carrying more weight than a Tacoma is rated for.

I weighed my Tacoma at our Washington state DOT certified scales . You figure the state scales for our state troopers are calibrated often for the safety of others on our hwys . Plus it's free

An add a leaf or an upgraded leaf pack will both increase the payload capacity.

All steel sliders bumpers skids beefed up suspension topper tools lights winch jacks E-Load 34's, 5 of them myself a full tank of gas and I'm cheating a little bit here as I had about 500lbs of stuff getting dropped of at the dump.

Curb weight in "daily trim" is closer to 5800lbs.

Not legally. It will keep the truck from sagging under the added weight but does not change the legal rating or the manufacturer's specifications for what the frame, brakes, engine, transmission, etc are designed to handle.
