    This is excellent advice.
My furnace control/thermostat is next to the bed as well, and it's nice to...
A-be able to turn it on without getting out of bed.
B-be able to shut it off or turn it down if it gets a little warm, without getting out of bed.

You'll want the thermostat about mid to upper level in the camper anyway, too low and the upper part becomes a sauna.

Yep, going to mount it opposite of the vents and high up / closest to the bed slide when pulled out.

Going to have two vents, one closeable to the bottom and the always open one pointing just up towards the bed area

With the choice of going with the propane heater I swapped out my 5lb propane tank mount for an 10/11lb mount. Fabricated a mount for the regulator and routed the propane hose into the camper today.

Thanks! Yeah ive been perusing a lot of expidition portal and random camper stuff on instagram to get ideas.

80/20 is really easy to work with, I learn more about it the more i use it. I will be making some cabinetry and storage, hoping to have the interior done by May. The heater install should be finished next week (mother in law is in town, so less baby duties!!).

Worked on a cover / shield for the propane regulator today. Should do good protecting it from slush and mud.

Worked on installing the propex heater today before the Super Bowl. So far have the propex mounted, exhaust and intake run. Just have to finish the propane line, electrical, and vents.

Why’d you go with the 2800 over the 2000?

I am a wimp in the cold, I do want to go winter camping to ski, and Karl from westy ventures realistically said the only downside to the 2800 is the price vs 2000. they use the same amount of electricity, slightly more propane but should heat up quicker, and a slightly larger size.

This is exactly what I am planning with my build, I have 8 months to plan :). I plan to put two batteries in the space behind the wheel well on the left side. That will keep the bed mostly open.

I am curious about the square hole in the bed beside the Propex. Is that required for the air intake?

Also, did you drill some holes in the bed to mount the 80/20 to?

    Looks great! Thanks for posting.

Worked a little more today on the propex heater. Got to run it for the first time too. Electrical, propane, exhaust, intake, and propane alarm are all done.

Just need to do venting and CO alarm.

Worked on the camper a little more this afternoon. Finished picture of the thermostat / controls. Also worked on some new Yakima bar roof rack mounts for the tracks on the roof.

    Just the basics
Like those track mounts. What parts did you use for those? Are they secured to the tracks with the Yakima track nuts or something else? Some people say they use the Thule ones that don't necessitate the removal of the track caps at the ends of said tracks.

They are whispbar tracks, which got bought out by Yakima. They have a slide in at the end of the tracks so you don’t have to remove end caps for it. With my custom mounts I use Yakima rain gutter parts and some Yakima anchor plates in the tracks. I think it’s funny that Yakima uses standard bolts for the rain gutter parts, but the anchor plates are an m6 I believe.

Worked on the heater some more today. Made some vent brackets for the upstairs vent, and made a temporary heater inlet with some scrap I had laying around.

Now I can start working on the fridge slide and getting that perfect and nicely tucked in.

Howdy, love this camper! Would you be willing to show it to a local Taco owner? I may want to order one next month, but would love to check one out in person first.

I’ll be adding a second lower vent once I get my fridge slide / storage setup.
