Lookin good! I like the pattern choice and the headliner looks good. I've been putting off the headliner because working with fabric terrifies me.
Did you also put up an extra layer of insulation on the tent sides? What fabric did you use?

Here's a picture with the ceiling almost done. What I used for the ceiling wasn't actually "fabric". It's 2" 3M thinsulate; the stuff vanlifers put in/behind their walls. Before the ceiling was just 1" XPS foam, but adding this over all that really took the roof to the next level. Is completely cool to the touch on 100+ degree days, and I'm sure you guys are aware of how the aluminum gets in the sun.

The tent side insulation came from the folks at OVRLND. I believe it's another form of thinsulate.

    I have questions about bedding.

With a standard camper, what is the maximum mattress thickness and can you leave your beading up top when closed?

Is the extra beading height worth it?

I know my truck is not an economical giant, but 8" vs 10" may make a lot of difference.

Pretty sure they answer that on their website and if not, just call Jay and he'll give you exact answer.

I have the standard height and kinda wish I got the extra, but hard to say without knowing how much worse my MPGs would've been.

Hello everyone! I put in a deposit for an ovrlnd camper for my DCLB tacoma that is lunar rock. I am torn between the silver vs black anodized skin. Has anyone seen a silver one on a lunar rock tacoma?

    Congrats you won't be disappointed.
I think that lunar rock would look good with black or silver. My truck is black and it's always so hot in the summer. Probably same thing goes for a black camper?
Post some pics when you get it.

Has anyone ever done a vinyl wrap or gotten theirs painted?
Kinda dumb, but the bare aluminum is the only thing I don’t especially like.
I’ve personally never had good results painting aluminum.

Hi guys. Just discovered these campers. I have a 2006 two-wheel drive long bed that I absolutely love and take on fire roads all over Southern California. I've been wanting to add a camper like this, but my brain is telling me to just finally sell my truck and get a first gen tundra that I've always wanted with four-wheel drive. I just hate taking chances on another old truck, when this one is perfectly good. Also, I hate the idea of building up a new truck, and going through the selling and buying process of a used vehicle. My Detroit Truetrac limited slip has served me well offroad and I really don't feel the need for four-wheel drive, unless things are wet. Decisions decisions

Either way I want to get one of these campers, as I will be able to use them every day at work during my down time for relaxing, besides camping trips. Also plan to occasionally have all four of us camping in this thing, with the kids up top, and a basic sleeping platform below for us parents. Most of our trips will probably be just two of us, but about four times a year is the whole family.

If any of you have any thoughts on my plans, I would love to hear them.

A used tundra 2000 Era will easily set you back 10-20k. That doesn't include repairs, mods etc. Then factor in the price of the camper. I guess it depends how badly you want 4wd and a little longer bed. With 4 people I would probably push for more space. So I'd go for the tundra. Also you would have a v8 under the hood too. But it also seems that you would be just fine in your current tacoma. If you have the funds I would get the tundra. Good luck with whatever route you choose.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah it's all the stuff I would have to do when getting another vehicle like repairs, upgrades, mods that's holding me back. Life is just too busy right now and we are going to do some work on our house. Most of our trips the primary goal is hiking and dispersed camping and so far truck has served me well. I may just go for one of these and enjoy it with the mindset that it wouldn't be hard to sell if I decided I had the time to start a whole new build. Pretty sure I can get the guys at ovrlnd to build it so it fits both a second gen and a third gen, but we'll see.

Beautiful build you have here. Anything you would do different if you were to order all over again? I'm looking to get vented windoors so the dog can ride back there with the ceiling fan blowing, the insulated roof liner is a must, and I'm thinking barn doors would be cool but not sure how I feel about losing the tailgate.

    Thanks!
Yes, I would definitely get the headliner and insulated tent sides if you're camping in the off-season. Get the window for the cab pass through. Get the maxxair with exhaust and intake.
I'm still not sure about the barn doors. I like having a tailgate to sit on/ put things on.
It would also interfere with my rear bumper swingout.
Side hatch is a must have as is the awning.
You will also want to insulate the walls with foam board insulation.
Make sure you plan all of your electrical needs before they install the headliner so you don't have to rip it apart later.
    Cheers

You can get the barn doors just on the top half and keep the tailgate.

That’s what I plan on if I can ever get enough saved to get one of these.

Yeah I saw those barn doors that are above the tailgate. That's definitely a great option. I also like doing stuff on the tailgate. But if I had barn doors, I would probably have a drop down table installed. So many different options it's amazing

Any of you have an ovrlnd camper on a long bed in southern California? Id love to check out the interior before buying one of these just to get a feel of how much space is in there. I'm envisioning using this to take the family to our kid's hockey tournaments and hanging out inside during the day between games. Wondering how the heat is inside on a sunny day with insulation and the fans running. I would use this thing for more than just camping. Sometimes at work I have a few hours of downtime and would like to make it a hangout spot for me without it being too hot. I might even consider some sort of AC. Regardless, I'm wondering how viable it is that a family of four hangs out in there during the day without feeling too cramped. We could even hang out outside tailgate style with an awning
