Just incase anyone else comes to this thread looking for this answer I just bit the bullet and bought the 270LT and mounted it on my roof rack with the back half hanging off. So far so good and it covers enough of the tailgate area but we will see how it does off road.

Also these led lights fit perfectly into the groove for attaching the factory LED light kit.

Pictures please! I’m considering doing this as well. Eventually, when I have the funds for the roof rack…

I'm using an rci roof rack with the ovs brackets.

The led lights on the arms are attached using vhb double sided tape and a few zip ties.

I have the ovs 270. Love it!

Waiting for them to release the walls for the high roofline model!

Oh yeah, I like how that looks. Are the straps long enough to hook the back to the rack?

Oh yeah. I actually cut the strap to reduce the excess

Sorry for the late reply. Your post totally slipped my mind. This is the full size. The wheel wells are never an issue. I often use them as shelving under the shade when I’m camped. My tongue is adjustable so that skews things a bit. But for reference, once opened the awning extends about 6’ past the end of the awning hinge.

So looking at these I wonder how you decided to get driver side or passenger side coverage. What are the advantages - disadvantages?

I have a passenger side one.
My fridge is on the passenger side and I like setting up my table and kitchen on that side
I carry water on my swing arm on the passenger side
I like it opening on the passenger side when you're pulled off the road and along it in the same direction as traffic
It's a mix of which side amongst my buddy's

I wanted to put mine on the passenger side but thought about how I can't deploy it when parked near something on the side of the road.

For me it was simple... my RTT opens on the passenger side... not much of a choice.

I got the passenger-side for two reasons. First, you're able to deploy it if you need to park along side a road (truck won't be facing the wrong way along the road) and second, that's all we had in stock on-island (hawaii).. not much choice without waiting forever for shipments).

The lights are super cool, where did you get those? I just ordered an ovs 270 was thinking of using string lights, but this setup is rad.

On the GFC forum I believe others have used the Racksbrax for other 270 awnings with no issues. I ordered the RB quick release mounts from them for my 270LT but they turned out to be back ordered with no ETA a couple months ago so canceled my order. I would eventually like to try them, but they are pretty expensive.
