A little off topic, but @shaggy135 your taller front faring is really clean. Did you fab that yourself or were there common parts and hardware you were able to find to create that? Almost looks like a flipped Prinsu faring w/out light bar cutout, not sure about the mounting hardware. Would love any info on how you built that!

What are the major differences from the original Nomadic 270 to the 270LTE?

I bought the 270 because I wanted a lot of shade. I'm glad I did. The 270 LT is ok but you're getting 50+% more coverage with the regular 270.

How wide are the larger panels compared to the LTE?

Any update on the 270LTE? I have not found any video reviews of it showing how robust it is or how it does with wind. I am considering this for my DCLB as I want an awning that when packed does not extend beyond the bed.

So far so good. the rail connections are not as robust as the 270 or 270LT. I have not had it open in the wind yet but breeze with a few light 5-10 gusts it was just fine not staked down. A couple more pictures

Does it sag a lot when you deploy it, and can it support itself without the legs down? I saw a video review of the Rhino Rack awning that just snapped at the hinge (plastic) when it was being deployed in a light wind before the legs could be put down to support it. This awning paired with my softopper with a sleeping platform looks like a nice compact and lightweight setup. Currently I have a knockoff a slumberjack roadhouse tarp with a couple poles but I’m looking for something that will deploy and pack up faster. How do you think it would hold up to some light snow, like 2”-3” ? I’m also thinking of getting the side walls and adding a stove jack for some cold weather camping.

I will take a few pictures later today and post. seems to be fine without the legs.

No clue about how much weight it can handle. you would have to ask OVS

I just tested my OVS LTE for the first time this weekend and I have to say I love it. I was pretty worried that it was going to be china junk but it seems to be made quite well, seems like it will stand up to a decent amount of abuse. I didn't want a super-long awning that covered the whole side of the truck, the trade off is the shaded area is of course less big. I also didn't want the hassle of having to use the legs and tie-downs either. I've had awnings before and I end up not using them because they're a pain to set up. This is super easy to deploy and it does not sag at all. I did not put the legs down and the wind gusts were about 15-20mph according to the app I was using. It wasn't moving at all. I took a couple of crappy pics:

Thank for the review and photos. I am thinking the same as you regarding not wanting a big heavy awning that has to go over the cab. I have been looking at the options that will fit on a rack over the bed only. I am also considering the 23Zero 180R to go on the rear of the truck. I sleep in the softopper and just need enough coverage to cook on the tailgate, maybe sit in a camp chair, and keep out of some light rain. I am considering adding the walls and a hot tent stove and stove jack for some snow camping.

Awesome photo! It does appear that it doesn’t quite open enough to get the arm that rotates behind the truck to be parallel with the back of the truck and perpendicular to the awning mount. That may be from the angle of the photo, or if this is the case I may just have to mount it a bit forward to eliminate any gap in overhead coverage between the awning and the rear of my softopper.

it looks close. im not familiar with how the soft toppers work. could you not lift the clear part in the back to bridge the gap?

If it came up short I could possibly add some Velcro, or figure out a wat to attach the rear softopper panel to the awning arm somehow.

Over GVWR and I keep adding more metal
With the age of my habitat, the location of the compression clamps, and the lack of a solid mounting surface made me steer away from installing it. End up selling it to a van person. I am still contemplating getting one, but I find the shade under the tray plenty adequate
