OVT Dump Tube Thread

i couldn’t figure it out. Never had a problem before. Restarted the PC, tried various ports, then as soon as i took off the parking break, success... wild.

I want a sound clip of someone with catted tubes. i only heard uncatted

 

Just got these bad boys in the mail today. Freaking awesome!

My local shop that does ceramic coating went out of business. Is it a must to coat these?

 

If that’s stainless steel then no real reason to coat them unless you just want to.

 

these don’t use the heat shield. I recommend a coating.

Only like 10 people have one and only 2 people exist on the forum. I already gave up on a sound clip. I gave up on this product. Will use the money to save for the TT instead but fear that only 5 product will be produce and then no TT. I guess time to pay my truck off first.

 

I coated mine just to be safe with no heat shields, although a cat would get much hotter and would be closer to components do to its larger size. I did it just as an extra precaution, better safe then sorry...

will also help keep underhood temps down

 

I have catted dump tubes with the full URD spec u system with a welded in vibrant resonator.

maybe I’ll do some sound clips

 

Just got an update from OVTune the other day that 15 sets of catted dump tubes are on the way to them from their fabricator and will hopefully be shipping back out in a couple weeks.

 

umm we sold over 50 of these already... most being catted though, but regardless that you're saying is completely wrong.

 

So what's your feeling on the catted tubes now that you have run them for a while. No problems with codes? Are you happy with them? Ive had a set for a few months but haven't had a chance to throw them on.

no codes. A little louder than the spec u.

They’re too easy to install to not do it!

 

Are you running the catless tune?

 

yes. 2 high flow cats and that’s it.

 

finally got enough miles on the dump tube 2.0 tune to start seeing the advantage. my truck will now stay in 6th "D" with cruise control on hills that used to cause the truck to downshift to 5th, tuned and 4th pre-tune. I actually got close to 20 mpg on my drive from work which had been as low as 17-18 prior.

I agree with everything @tater taco said. The truck is performing great with the tune/catted tubes.

If @OVTune is not too busy, will the final 2.0 tune have a flavor for the hardware owners (catted/decatted tubes) or will it be an all-encompassing 2.0 release?

Any chance you'll still do those sound clips? I'm running URD Y-Pipe with Borla exhaust so I'm very curious to see what it may sound like with the dump tubes. I'm looking for a more aggressive/deeper sound however I've learned that the raspy noise I get above 3k RPM will only be amplified with the dump tubes so I may have to look into the vibrant resonator like you've done and have it welded in.
