OVT Dump Tube Thread

I thought there may be at least one other company, can't recall off the top of my head, Google probably knows tho...

The "not throwing a code" is in the OVTune software, no one else has software for theirs. Tho his should work with any catless I would imagine.

 

aFe makes them. I've been running the catted version since December with no CEL's. (Caveat: I did replace the downstream O2 sensors at the same time.)

I just put in a set of aFe tubes, have a stock set if still needed

 

What have you noticed since the install? Any changes in how it drives?

 

I picked the truck up in the hour, so this I cannot comment on quite yet. Mechanic & buddy who has them said it will take a few days to break in and will notice/hear more as that occurs. For now, little to no noticeable change right out of the shop besides maybe acceleration.

Anyone have issues about a week post-install? I wheeled hard last night and woke up to my taco throwing an EVAP emissions leak (P0456) wondering if this is an expected error from these pipes (I have aFe catted dump tubes without a tune) or if I need to give the mechanic a ring before going back out tommorow. Thanks

 

doubt it has anything to do with your tubes. more likely check your gas cap is tight or maybe you knocked an evap canister hose off wheeling

 

so... I must admit I did drive with the gas cap open for a little while last night atleast 10-15min... long week at work. Anyways, the error codes got thrown earlier today never occured last night. Just need to reset?

Unfortunately didn't do the trick. I cleaned the cap real well too. Cruise control doesn't work as a result, gonna call the dealer Monday.

 

So, I just took off my OVTune catless dump tubes that have been on for the last 45k miles. Replaced with the stock down tubes which I ceramic coated, an AFE y pipe with high-flow cats, and an AFE 'rock basher' cat back exhaust.

The difference is very noticeable. Much more responsive across all gears. I am on a KDMax tune so my sluggish throttle was already bearable but once those shit-pipes came off I now have the truck I have been needing. I had no idea how horrible those pipes are for the bottom end and I could never tell before because the OVTune has never really been anything to write home about (compared to the many independent tunes that are available now).

Anyone who has the CATLESS dump tubes, throw those fuckers away - they're garbage. These trucks need back pressure. Use high flow catted tubes or high flow catted y pipes. For some reason the down pipes with high flow cats are crazy expensive - near or over $1k. The AFE y pipe with high flow cats is $725.

Spending $600 on the OVTune dump tubes when they first came out back in 2018 was probably the biggest waste of money on this truck yet.

I only wish I had taken them off sooner.

 

I put a pair of aFe catted hf tubes on my truck last month, have been pretty happy so far. Sometimes they are floating around here for half the price

 

It's the first time I have ever 'felt' an exhaust modification other than sound vibration. I don't think it's specifically AFE, but the high flow cats either on the down pipes or the y pipes open it up just enough to actually feel some effect. Have heard the same from @A_Tacoma01 about his experience with his hf downpipes.

Gonna go ahead and say any brand's decatted down pipes and/or decatted y pipes are going to be so similar to the OV brand as to be virtually equal in effect, and my experience was that they are garbage.

Absolutely! They are ceramic coated inside and out with Eastwood paint. They are light, but shaped weird for shipping. PM me if you want to talk about this some more.
