Thank you very much. Very raspy for my taste. I got an AFE catback right now and Im thinking about getting the catted dump pipes. Worth?

Well, flashed the catted tune, no codes yet. Still have a buzzy sound around 2500-3000 rpm accelerating but it may just be what the combo sounds like. Might put a resonator on the y pipe.

Shot in the dark, but how is the clearance between the u bracket thing that is supposed to keep the exhaust from hitting your propeller shaft? Could the exhaust be moving enough to touch it?

Edit: y-pipe probably gets rid of that...

Decatts sound great with stock secondaries and TRD Pro Catback exhaust. No ticking noises, raspyness, no drone, just a nice growl at moderate throttle. Oh and still no unwanted instrument cluster lights.

thanks for the thread, OP. we need it. great infos in here. sharing my experience...

i have the mk2 URD Y & rear cat delete, and custom exhaust after that. i had the first set of catless dump tubes on and it leaked like crazy. uninstalled the next day and replaced with front stock cats. CEL came as expected and went away after returning to stock fronts.

i installed my dump tube 2.0 beta flash for the catless tubes that i got from Mat when i bought the catless tubes.. this tune is perfect for me. i have kept it ever since and haven't reflashed the MT beta that was released since, because the dump tube file is just too good to let go, for me at least. if anyone wants to try this file let me know. 04B13 MT dongle 93oct. i have only decided to share this file around a bit after seeing Mat dropping balls left right & center.

i'm currently running beautifully and consistently. i have the prototype catted tubes on my garage floor with new gaskets ready to go. i'm waiting on a custom tuned Y pipe right now, and when that is done i'll try to hook up the catted dump tubes at the same time. probably early next year or so, just waiting on the builder for the Y pipe. the whole current exhaust is custom but when the Y pipe is done i'm replacing everything and redoing the entire exhaust again.

after going through so much drama to get here, and running strong, smooth, and consistent now, i'm just hesitant to do anything until i'm opening up Pandora's box again with the new Y pipe/exhaust re-do, so it makes sense to wait to try the catted tubes until then. deal with all the potential drama at once.

don't know. but they reused all the gaskets on install. then when returning to stock fronts we reused them again and no issues. but i have all new gaskets for next go-round.

How do you know it was a leak? Was there a sound?

why did you decide to go catted instead of catless?

ugh. because my cab was filled with exhaust gas to the point of nausea and the vacuum sound was not subtle. and performance was loose. pretty obvious this one.

the catless tubes were aggressive but didn't look to be worth that much effort. CEL reports were coming right at that time and i got it arranged for the custom Y pipe then also. so i changed my plan a bit since I'll get better improvement going the tuned Y pipe route and decided to keep a couple cats in case of CEL issues or crazy noise or somesuch.

of course the jury is still out on the CEL thing with or without cats it seems.

Glad to see that Matt helped you out. I hope your Cel issue is in the past.
Thanks to everyone who has shared their experience with the down pipes. It really has helped to get this info in one place instead of scattered around the forum. Maybe someday @OVTune will check in on this thread to offer any info he's willing to share.

I will chime in here since I caused some drama on the beta thread. I have all catless and a custom made y pipe with originally a Flowmaster 50. Had CEL's and tried the spark plug defowler trick with no avail. I was waiting on the tune for the dump tubes and was told it would be sent to me that day so we did the install and bam I had CEL's. After my drama I was sent the catless dump pipe tune and no CEL's after about a 1K miles. As far as the raspy noise, we put a reasonator the muffler guy had lying around and it sounded a bit better but not quite where I wanted it so after someone on hear mentioned using this Vibrant Performance Ultra-Quiet Resonators 1142 I purchased it and we put on and what a difference! We left the other one on also so two resonators and a Flowmaster 50 and sounding much better without any dash lights with tune. Any questions please feel free to ask.

Yes, I have a 3" catback MBRP. A recording would only serve to highlight the MBRP exhaust, which is already a fairly loud rumble and throaty and totally different than the stock sound. The dump tubes only added some volume and a tiny bit more growl, but it just sounds like the MBRP.

This is great news about the CEL,I sent Mat a request Monday for the catless tune file via zendesk, still waiting for a reply. @shawnkc10fe where did you install the resonators in the system,I have one directly in front of the muffler right now.

Got them on... vids to come since it's late. First impressions... sounds better, flashed the 91 performance catted tune (04A61) and NO CODES! Can't judge on the short test drive I took. I have spent a limited amount of time driving since I flashed the TSB, the new beta 2.0 and now this new setup too. All I can say is I like it. May have a small exhaust leak but it doesn't smell in the cabin... yet. I have been under the truck most of the afternoon so I can't make a good judgment call right now. Does anyone know if new parts just smell slightly for a bit (outside cabin) as they break in? Also, swapped the manifolds with the truck on the ground by myself... it can be done just takes some finagling with a cardan (double?) socket piece, an extension and drive speed handle (and a lifted truck helps).

I noticed an improvement in performance and I don't believe it is the placebo affect! As far as MPG I changed to the dump tube tune a few hundred miles ago and haven't had any consistency in mileage. It goes between 15.5 to about 17.2. Doesn't really seem to matter if it's on the highway or back roads driving.
