Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate it. Always happy to help.

I do agree that there are missing features. As I have promised all of my folks an update to Final / Ultimate, I'm getting in more trouble as time goes on. Since last August, it has always felt like it is about 4wks away.

Been thinking about getting the ovtune for my 2020 Tacoma. I have the remote start kit installed, will I need to reprogram that if I flash the ECU with the new tune?

    ??

If you think the tune is vaporware, that is baseless.

If you think that there have been some extremely long delays, that is good acceptable discussion.

And, yeah. My role there is hall monitor, just like mods / admins here.

Yeah the vaporware stuff is just BS, obvious troll garbage.

Great, then we are in agreement WRT to the delays.

I'm just poking ya again Tony, don't get ur admin feathers ruffled

I know you basically can't do anything about it, but Tacoma related updates over on Mat's forum (unless you're in the TT loop) are few and far between. I mean nothing.

Agreed. I'd like to think that I'm generally fair, in a biased way. :D

I don't understand how 04C21 is out, but not the others. The 2022s are at least thankfully delayed from the big T. But, those will need attention also.

How many years are you going to wait before you admit there is never going to be the tune you were promised?

This kind of sycophantic nonsense is why he was able to steal people's money for so long.

Well we are quickly approaching the 2 year anniversary of the Lie, I was just wondering if we could expect you to support that crook through year 3 too.

Something I've always wondered about.....I understand why people get tunes, be it vF, KDMax, or whichever. I also understand that Techstream can't detect the tune as long as the calibration ID isn't changed, so the odds of the dealership picking up on a tuned ECM when you bring a vehicle in for service or warranty repair are slim to none. However, my understanding also is that if the truck is brought in for a big ticket powertrain issue under warranty that requires prior approval from Toyota, Toyota can request that the ECM be sent in, and they can tell if the ECM has (or had, if the ECM is flashed back to stock before being brought in) an unauthorized modification, thus putting the warranty claim in jeopardy. Other manufacturers (Audi and Subaru, for example) are much more aggressive about scanning for flashed ECMs. EPA is also getting much more aggressive at going after sellers of software for tuning, even with the "off road use only" disclaimer (United States v. Gear Box Z as an example).

Lots of people have their trucks tuned, and I'm sure most have considered this. Do they just accept the risk because the odds of getting "caught" are fairly low and the improved driveability a tune gives is worth it to them? I realize it's a similar theory with aftermarket lifts, but being on the hook for a suspension component failure would probably not be as expensive as potentially being on the hook for a blown engine or transmission failure. This is not in any way meant to be a criticism, I'm just wondering if it's something people consider.

Yes. The vF Tunes are more about getting proper driveability from the crap that Toyota gave us. The modest but noticeable peak power bump is nice, but it is more about the low end torque and shift improvements than anything else.

So, I am taking the risk.

Everyone is under the impression that they're undetectable to the level of scrutiny Toyota uses. Combine that with the perceived reliability of Toyota and people feel safe.

If that turns out to be a lie too (you really can't trust anything OVTune says) I'm sure people would start removing the tune, but that hasn't happened.

I think the key statement here is "to the level of scrutiny Toyota uses". I may be particularly sensitive to this because I had a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee that ended up needing a cylinder head replaced at 200 miles. The dealership, in conjunction with Chrysler, went through a shit ton of diagnostics before approving the replacement, and that included reading the ECM. Had I flashed that ECM I would have had a problem.

I get it now...it's a "risk vs. reward" decision individual owners need to consider. Currently the odds are in the owners' favor, but should Toyota ever become more vigilant in the future that may change.

BTW, my apologies. The use of 'you' in my post was the collective meaning. I'm sure that you got that, but I just wanted to clarify. :D

They were never released. They released some info if you had access to VFtuner to modify the tunes to include Gearlock but that was it. Been waiting since I purchased in 2020. it's a solid tune and there's lots of info to figure out. Hit me up if you have any questions on modifying an existing tune to include gearlock.

Appreciate the offer but I think I’m all set. I reflashed with a KDMAX tune yesterday and it blows away 2.0 final IMO. I may still pick your brain some though:)
