For those who are curious and/or interested in turbo'ing their Tacoma, or just turbos in general, I recommend to go do some research. There are going to be a LOT of questions asked about how things work, what parts do what, etc, but a lot of those questions can easily be answered by understanding how a turbo system actually works. There's really no negative effect on a vehicle's performance (unless you're always in boost and care about MPG LOL). This is exciting stuff!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say if you can fab in a snorkel, or front bumper, you can make your own modifications to those components to make them compatible with a turbo kit.

For that matter you could pay someone local to do it, you clearly have the money.

There are far too many factors to consider in a turbo kit to try and make it compatible with every aftermarket bumper or snorkel.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
No matter what you have, snorkel, bumper, light bar, winch etc, if someone wants it bad enough that person will find a way. Then hopefully pass it on to other members.

    Exactly.

Probably a hidden winch could potentially be a little tight.

But since we have no photos to go off of... :notsure:

valid point! Ive been watching lots of youtube of folks customizing a kit or making their own. Its super interesting. After having a rear main seal leak on my 16 with 40k miles, im going to wait out the powertrain warranty before making any turbo moves.

Power and efficiency gains aside, I'm curious to see how the rest of the drive train holds up to the additional power. This sounds awesome, but also sounds like it could put more than enough force to explode my stock autotragic or a t-case when my totally inexperienced ass goes hot-doggin' on the trails and binds up a little. I only mention it because I've blown up my fair share of transmissions, differentials and propeller shafts doin' driftin' and cranking boost.

    ok... debbie downer OUT!

Also... all wheel donuts on pavement is gonna be sick af...

All wheel doughnuts on pavement will find the limits of your drivetrain pretty quickly I would think. Hopefully you’re not too surprised at the amount components you’ve broken in the past!

You have to pay to play!

Not in person, but I’ve drifted 4wd trucks in snow before. That’s always fun. Drifting a 500hp Tacoma on pavement in 4wd doesn’t seem like a sensible idea though. I’m not trying to discourage the brave and wealthy either, all in for viewing someone else’s videos of such events.

I'm not gonna do the digging, but it has been said that this same transmission is behind some of Toyota's heavier duty diesel powertrains in Australia.

Those lucky bastards get a twin turbo diesel V8 over there...

But also I mean, pay to play right? Do stupid things and win stupid prizes. If your not punching your rear end out on The highway and drifting around corners it should all stand up just fine.

If your dune racing all those components should be upgraded anyways.

Get it CARB compliant and I'll be interested. In the mean time I'll keep holding my breath for Magnuson to step up to the plate.

Working out the details on that with a buddy that is the electrical guru for a NHRA team. He’s looking through schematics to see if it can be done.

All depends on how you drive, but I believe big mike is on 4.88 because he has the 8.75" rear and nothing over 4.88 is offered yet.
