I really want to think this is pure sarcasm but the last bit means it is surely not. Before you go slinging around terms like "Country bumpkin back yard mechanic" be aware I live and work in one of the richest cities in the world and make mid six figures using a highly modified Tacoma in that work. I have a fair bit of experience in working on and maintaining FI platforms for high performance and yet reliable applications, I don't need someone like you coming on here to put that into question.

Furthermore, if I am a potential customer (I am) and the OP has a created a thread in which it ALREADY has the track record of aptly pointed questions and there is a forum based community presence here, then who in the hell are you to tell ME to not ask MY questions???

You don't get to do that, get it?

Love it. Everyone’s a wealthy engineer on these forums, yet need someone else to do their work...please, everyone, continue.

I'm just saying that as a forum member I can ASK MY QUESTIONS!! Otherwise what the hell is the point of the place or the thread for that matter? It's not OVtune's business page, it is a forum in which he is a participant and any respectfully framed question is fair game. Period.

WTF is wrong with people here?

I didn’t quote you because I’m not singling you out.

What’s wrong with people? If you have to ask that, then I welcome you into the twilight zone. Refreshments to the right.

Sorry man, I am just dealing with some news about a parent, tough morning. I'm behind OVtune's effort and expertise 101% and have voiced that.

I'll bow out for a bit, have more important things to attend to...

    Have a good one!

Hey brother, I am always game to read other TW forums especially if it is meant to share valuable information or stimulate good discussions. Your posts became increasingly critical of Matt's turbo project and came across a bit condescending. The "country bumpkin backyard mechanic" was partly sarcastic but honestly some of your later posts sounded like no one on this forum knows anything about tuning or upgrading engines. I'm sure you have lots of good information and if you pose questions that will ultimately make a better turbo kit then CHEERS! If not, please keep the criticism to yourself (or another post) so Matt can spend his valuable time getting this kit to market ASAP since there are many of us patiently and optimistically waiting.

Howdy, just wanted to throw in my 2¢ as to what I'd be interested in in as a consumer. Another 75-100 lbft torque that starts about 2.2k rpm and up. Hp, I really don't care. If I wanted that, I would have gotten a Colorado and tossed a s/c on it for 400/400 rwhp. The power was the only thing that I really hesitated about getting a Tacoma. After driving it for about a month now, that is my only major gripe. Honestly, I'd pull the trigger on a $5k kit for this if I can do the install.

My wife's Merc is twin turbo and I'll tell you the quick spool with low down torque is without a doubt fun. It's not hair raising, engine revving fun, but it's 'refined' if you wanted to call it that. It is only a 20 hp boost over the non TT, but the torque on tap makes all the difference.

Might be a good candidate for an engine swap one day... although production numbers don't look promising. Usually for a good engine swap, you need a bunch of them to be made.

Not necessarily. Some companies offer engine swaps and then put them on the side as a “made to order” type thing so they don’t have a lot of stock just sitting and collecting dust

That engine may find its way into the Land Cruiser and Tundra.

That is your observation and therefore your opinion. It's not criticism but rather rigorous standard questioning when it comes to something as significant as a total change in fueling and aspiration of an otherwise stock truck that costs around $40,000.

As long as I am not violating the rules of the forum as applied by the written standards and keep it respectful, my line of inquiry stands and I will apply that line of questioning when and how I see fit.

I appreciate the candor but you didn't really come in here with "standard questions" you came here to subject the thread with your own opinions of what you think is right / required / etc when doing a turbo build. I've been in this industry for years..as my day job. We've built turbo kits and tuned some of the most complex engines and calibrations on the market. We wouldn't do this if we didn't already know what we were doing.

Your posts have went from questions, build criteria / requirements to your own personal salary. It's just distracting everyone.

I'm stunned Matt, really. I have every right to make inquiries just like anyone on here. You of all people should know that when you post on a forum, the cadence and prompt of dialogue is very different than using traditional PR or customer service channels.

I want you to go back and read my posts, my support was also voiced in terms of your potential product offering. Regardless of why the person decided to say it, my reference to salary was merely a qualifying and contextual statement that I am also experienced enough in at least maintaining FI vehicles that I should have a reasonable expectation to place this inquiry. His calling me some country bumpkin was uncalled for and you in your reply, are basically condoning that.

And I want you to also go back and read that the morning I posted that reply I also posted to another person that I had family news that was not good. Well here is some more news, the relative passed away this evening.

The conduct shown to me on this site regarding this topic is nothing short of frat boy disgusting. I am done here and you Matt, in your particular reply here, have lost my business for good. I hope this is not how you deal with customer inquiry in more official channels, Good bye.
