No engine mods. I will be eventually getting an S&B CAI with the disposable filter to add a bit of noise to the engine bay. I could only find one video of a 2nd gen with this tune on the dyno. Matt with OV tune said they increased the rev limit on our truck to 6300 rpm. That will be nice since the truck feels like its short shifting (shifts at 5200 rpm stock).

How's the OV Tune so far on the 2nd gen? Always wondered if it was worth it.

The tune definitely changed the drivability. With the 91 tune it seems to have more torque down low. When I press the gas pedal it seems to get going better with less throttle and less rpm. First gear holds a bit longer before shifting at partial throttle and other transmission shift settings are different. The other gears hold a little longer before shifting under certain load conditions and the shifts are a little firmer. The engine revs a few hundred rpm more before shifting at WOT. As far as WOT power, it's hard to say. Additionally, I haven't done a true mpg test yet but seems about the same.
I tested the 0-60 times will both the 87 and 91 tune files using a 0-60 timer, but they didn’t drop off any time.
I put in a request for their updated 93 tune back in November. Still waiting on the files to try them out.

Do you think OV Tune on a 2nd gen would replace the need for regearing?

I don’t think so. It’s good for a slight difference in driveability but doesn’t substitute a mechanical change like gears.

I wonder how this tune would do on a regeared second gen.. Would it be worth it?
