I have a m/t and I can’t even stop and start on a hill towing my bass boat (3900lbs) because the throttle will not respond. I have to smoke the clutch just to get it to roll then half the time rpms are so low it dies so I will have to put in 4 low to get me to flat ground. About to trade the truck in over it. Y’all think the ovtune would help this ?

Buddy, I towed a lot of trailers with my 2018 Tacoma and many of them were much heavier than your boat. I also lived in the Appalachian mountains, and I never... ever had to smoke the clutch to get started. I never had to put it in 4lo to get started. I admit I did stall it a time or two but that was my fault, not the trucks.
Now, this is going forward. If you are in reverse, you might as well just put it in 4lo to start with because the reverse gear on a MT is geared so high you can go 80 mph backwards!
But, trade it man. Or, learn to drive a stick. Life is too short.

I'd say yes along with the accumulator delete (ADM). Much more torque down low.

Also, consider the 2Lo Mod (2LM).

All three are way less expensive that trading or a clutch swap. The OE one could use more feel and initial bite, but that will come later.

I'm always a fan of blending the throttle from idle versus a rev and go. It does lead to a greater chance of stalling, but it just feels right to me. Still, it just depends on what folks do and their muscle memory.

Burned out clutch = opportunity to put in a beefier clutch.

The best tow tune IMO would be the one with the least horsepower and most torque down low.

Would a tune help get better gas mileage when towing? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I know nothing about tuning.

Sounds like a re-gear would be the solution for you, especially if you tow that setup on hilly terrain often. It would make a drastic difference compared to any tune you could put in.
