That's why I switched from OVTuned. Years and years later and we still don't have a true final tune. I bought the KDMAX yesterday and it's head and shoulders above everything I've flashed. My honest review will come in the next few weeks.

I've felt in the last year or so that Mat has abandoned his tune for his burgeoning hardware kits.

This just shows that it’s all about one’s driving experience and not about numbers that matters to most people. Some people are born to argue. They love to argue . You can argue all you want but you’re missing a THINg that would make your driving experience a LOT better. Btw the gains EXPERIENCED are linear, spread to all rpms. No sudden surges like stock or ovtune 2.0 . So far I love this tune.it makes my taco feel it lost a lot of weight. Very responsive. The only caveat is if you’re used to the sudden surge in the stock tune or 2.0 tune when you want to pass someone quick ( sudden drop to 3rd or 4th from 6th gear), you’ll have a holy shit experience because that surge is not there. It tries to hold on 5th and 4th a little longer before going to 3rd even when you stomp on the pedal. No big deal for me. I just put it in s mode before sudden passing then Back to D when I’m back on my lane. Like driving a manual.so happy with this KDMax6.0 tune by @PapaRee and @TWTaco .
BTW, I had ovtune 2.0 for a few months before going kdmax6.0 .

I agree, my truck feels "lighter". That is a good description. And I love the way it shifts.
We have plans to dyno another truck with stock tires and stock gears. The one dyno we did had big mud tires and 4.88 gears. We just haven't had time yet to do it.

You all switch to KDMax! It is just the most significant and perfect tune there is overall. @PapaRee is a wizard when it comes to these tunes!

The other possibility, which seems likely based on the dyno charts, is a placebo effect.
You hear that the KDtune is incredible, makes tons of power, super smooth, etc. So after you get it, you believe your truck is running better than before even if there's really no difference.

As I said earlier, the dyno charts provided might be a bad run or outliers, but if you look at the torque line for the KDMax (seat-of-the-pants feel), even as compared to the stock tune... KDmax has consistently lower torque until about 4250rpm. And a much larger stumble at 3750rpm than the stock stumble at 4200.

If y'all are happy with it, that's all that matters... just be aware when recommending it, that your personal impression of how it performs might not be reality.
That's all I'm gonna say on the matter.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-2021-k-d-tuning.709247/page-10#post-25409968

edit: btw, not trying to pick on KDtune... same goes for OVtune, or any modification for that matter. If you believe a mod will do a certain thing, you're more likely to perceive a change.

There is power and there is drive-ability. KDMax delivers on both. I’ve you’ve driven OV2.0 and KDMax back to back it’s a pretty shocking difference. Have you tried it? What tune are you currently driving to compare it to?

How about this, you PM me, I give you the tune to try. If you like it, you pay me. If you don't, then don't pay me. I am that confident.
It is not PERFECT, but it is a definite improvement.
I will let the tune do the talking.

I'm comparing people's testimonials about what their impressions of the tune vs. what the posted dyno charts show.

I tend to be skeptical of people's "butt dyno" impressions when the actual dyno numbers don't support what they're experiencing.

It's entirely possible the dyno run that was posted was an anomaly and the tune is actually producing much different numbers for the rest of the installed base. Who knows? That's why repeatability is key.

Thank you, that's a generous offer. But I'm not looking to get a tune at the moment.
Only had the truck for about a month.

I am in the middle of moving and I have a business trip next weekend, but after that, we will do another Dyno run with a stock truck.
This will give us another comparison.

I was also wondering the order that the 4 runs were done in... if you waited till the end for the KDmax pulls, could other variables have come into play? Air temp, fuel temp, fouled plugs, etc.

Just playing devil's advocate. Looking forward to the fresh dyno data.
