Some of this isn't about trolls or doing your best. OVTune has stated that they expect a certain level of technical acumen out of their customers and is frustrated with their moronic questions and inability to push the "Read ECU" button. This is on some level very understandable.

I say open vFTuner up to less technical folks, provide more support, ship more units, and make more money. I assume they make the highest profit margins on the tunes themselves and that those less-technical customers are perhaps the most likely to purchase something that seems safe and legitimate - from the same place they get the hardware and tuner program itself.

I agree that it's a great product, but expecting so much from your customers (even though it may seem you're expecting very little) is going to really limit business opportunities. I echo your statement in appreciating the product. Just reprogrammed the ECU for the first time a few minutes ago and everything worked flawlessly. Thanks again OVTune and best of luck.

I bet you wouldn't go back to stock from SFOB though...

Probably the same kind of weasel who hacks someone else's product and then makes money off it.

The F150 is great, got it tuned and modded without so much as a hiccup. You could learn a thing or 2 from other shops.

I would not no, no way. The added low end torque, throttle response and power is great!

But my truck drove great on a stock tune, honestly. No hesitation, bucking, weirdness etc. Throttle response sucked yes, it still is not perfect on SFOB. For example when double clutching from 6 to 4, gotta still jam the pedal.

That’s why I never really understood all the complaints on TW. I was trying to look for problems but they weren’t there.

I wish you were closer brother, I'd ask to ride along. My MT seems to run fine but I don't have your truck as a reference.
Maybe that is a good thing since my wallet is already light because of TW.

    Fair enough.

Take it from someone who had a very early production '16 M/T though, THAT truck drove very differently from my '19 on the stock calibration, and I couldn't wait to get on the tuned train when OV first came out.
You also have the benefit of years of Toyota calibration updates with your '18.
Heck, even Toyota's update from 04B10 to 04B13 was huge.

    Thank you.

I hope I don't sound like a douche, asking customers to read some of the literature. I do help even when it's something obvious.

In the end, we're messing with thousands of dollars of equipment. I was a pucker-fest the first few times that I flashed my Taco. But, I read the instructions and good posts a few times to know what the procedure was.

I just don't understand folks going in cold and hammering away at any button that looks right.

Oh yeah, I believe you. At first I didn’t realize how bad some of the calibrations were. I almost drove Ovidius’s truck @17trdoffroadbel, he had a lot of issues with his truck and I wanted to see it for myself. It didn’t work out as I was working when he offered a couple of times. @tonered got a chance to drive it and if remember correctly Tony said it was pretty bad. His truck eventually got lemon lawed.

Also I think I never had those TW issues with my trucks performance because I always ran 91 E0 after dealers fill, I could be very wrong though. From my experience, all my Japanese vehicles ran better on 91 or higher. It was especially noticeable in my 91 Si, huge difference.

Honestly the biggest difference is at lower rpms, feels like you have like 40 more torque. Also feels quicker in mid and top end. All this with same or better MPGs, go figure.

Was it necessary? In my case it wasn’t, I just wanted to see what’s all this raving was about. I’m glad I did though, makes the truck way more fun to drive. I would not go back to stock, no way. SFOB is freaking great!

I spend like 650CAN for software, cable and 2 tunes. If you find someone to flash for like 150-200 I think it’s a no brainer. Truck definitely drives better, you will love it. It really wakes up this 3.5!

Yep. And while mine drove pretty well Stock, a few mods like the vF / OV Tunes completely transformed it.

It's a great machine hidden by a few bad decisions.
