If that's what it's going to take :frusty:. Or make a small windows based capturer that stays in the truck and auto flashes every now and then lol

haha, u crazy man :) no way I'd be bothered with that every few hundred
miles. Stock ran well for me, I'd just return it stock + ect mode.

Stock tune?? I love the power increase with the OV flash, it just seems to be relearning it's wonky throttle/shifting as time goes on. I can deal with it, and ECT mode def helps.

Maybe write a loop that as soon as the learning is done.. it clears the settings and starts the learning process again...

    But what do I know ... I'm not a programer...

Hmmm, maybe I won't see it then :fingerscrossed: Never had any issues with the
shifting/throttle on stock. I've got about 300 miles on the 1.02c-A now.

We have the necessary equipment to download and install techstream....I have version 12 loaded on my laptop that I flash with. It was loaded before windows defender was disabled and it threw no flags. Using Techstream it's a 2 minute process to connect and clear learning if it's bothersome which seems like an easier process than flashing over time.

If meso creates a solution to do anything, maybe a reset button using that same functionality....though I can't even begin to imagine the hardware/software solution it would take to accomplish that with just pressing a button.

Can you explain the process in more detail? Like exactly what is required to do this?

Install the software, launch the software, connect to the ECU, go to utilities, use the erase learning utility.

12-00-127 is the version I'm using. Download link and instructions using google, look for obdii365 blog. Not going to link the actual site here as this is all on you guys if you want to go this route.

Wait a second... are you saying inside TS, there is an option to erase the learning procedure??!

Does this connect with the same hardware interface that OV provides to load the tune?

It doesn't ERASE the procedure, just resets the learned values (much like disconnecting your negative battery terminal or reflashing)

Just to be clear, as I am on the fence about purchasing the tune, you can install said tune, but over time because of the way the ECU is designed, it will overwrite it and put you back where you were. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You can't erase the learning PROCEDURE, but you can erase the learned values.

That's not correct, as the ECU does make some changes and adaptations to the way the truck shifts and some throttle response, but it is nowhere even close to the way the stock ECU drove. It can be misconstrued as folks are upset the truck still learns and still has variability in the way it drives, but it's not to be equated with stock. This tune on its worst day is a vast improvement over stock on its best day.

No, you load techstream only, indicate what hardware standard you're using to connect to the ECU (TIS I think it is) and it directly connects through the same OBDII port connector but doesn't use any of the software that you use to connect to the ECU and load the tune.

Correct. I didn't mean my post to come across as if the stock ECU comeplety overwrites the OrangeVirus tune back to stock. The ECU tune is still there and locked in.. I am very happy with that part. It's the throttle response/feedback and shifting pattern that the truck seems to "re-learn" back to the way it wants.

I would second this. You are never back to anything nearly as bad as stock, but it does trick you into a PERFECT feeling early on where you literally couldn't imagine the truck performing any better in any scenario which can be a bit addicting then things like the shift points degrade as it tries to unlearn those aspects of the tune. Throttle response and power never really degrade for me though and those were 2 of the biggest complaints I had about stock.

I actually am back to 1.01b now as I feel the learning isn't nearly as pronounced over time on that release. It only touched throttle response and advanced the timing to optimize premium fuel but that alone seems to provide a smarter input for the learning stuff. It never will run as AMAZING as 1.02c after flash but I won't be watching it degrade much over time either.

Ok. Maybe I read too much into it. It seemed like you were paying 8 bills for a tune that the learning ECU could overwrite. I am tracking now.

No way that the ECU can be made to not learn and run just the new program ?
