Good! Do you have the ability to firm up shifts? I believe that would even help longevity. Instead of sloppy upshifts. I sure the manufacturers cater to the (don,t want to feel anything) majority. No more FLACID shifts........

But option C left upshift 5-6 stock. We like to have upshift 1-2 stock, 2-6 upshift control adjusted.

@OVTune something I'd be interested in you looking into is to see if there is a way to allow the e-locker to be enabled outside of 4LO only. I'd like to be able to enable it in 4HI and 2wd.

@OVTune Can you have ECT mode turned on by default when starting the truck? If that can't be done can you reverse the mapping so that the non-ECT mode is really the ECT mapping and then when you press the ECT button it switches to the "normal" mapping? Then maybe we can call the ECT mode in that case the "Economy Taco" mode.

(Sorry to double post this but I thought it this might be more appropriate in here)

That,s What I thought I read. "Option C- Gears 2-5 upshift changed. Gear upshift 1-2 stock, 5-6 stock." Option A sounds close but some people think "enhancing the 1-2 shift is not needed. What do I know! Maybe Option A is just the ticket for me. I do hope that You get a handle on the learning problem. I think I remember you saying that some learning is needed. I,m looking forward to more comments your your own experience with a stock tacoma. Read a bit about that on the other thread. Max

I've been lurking the OV Tune threads for a bit. Couple of things that I am still unclear on. If I flash the ECU with this, do I have to keep reflashing it to override the Toyota 'Learning'? Saw that on one thread, but on another it seems that OVTUNE fixed this?

Also - if I run the 87 Octane flash and let's say my wife fills my truck up with 89 or 91 octane - what are the consequences?

It is recommended to set and forget it...if you have to run a higher octane i don't see how that would hurt.

Reflashing is not recommended, but as the transmission learning still happens to some degree many have reflashed to “reset” to the awesome shifting immediately after flashing. OV knows the remaining piece and is working on addressing so that the learning doesn’t undo the great work he’s done on the transmission behavior. You will never have an issue running higher than tuned octane. You won’t get the same benefits as if you loaded the 91 tune but it will automatically advance the timing.

Thanks for the responses - that actually clears it up! So there still is real benefit to flashing it even if the transmission learning fights it a bit. Man I hope they figure that piece out! Love my Tacoma, but Toyota really jacked that piece up! The engine is not the problem as it is used in other vehicles I’ve driven and it’s nearly flawless in those.....

How about getting rid of the annoying rev when turning the steering wheel while stopped? Pulling into the garage or shop can be tricky since every time I turn the wheel the engine revs up and makes the truck lunge forward. Same with running the A/C while at a stop, the engine revs up and down when the A/C compressor kicks in.

As others have noted, the addition of a remote starter in the push to start Toyotas is a little annoying. If there is a way around the key validation issue for the push to start versions of this truck, and being required to have the truck shut down upon opening a door when remote started, that would be amazing. I'd pay for that to get done!

With the transmission shifting debacle, please make it so it stops racing up to 5th gear at 30 mph. Drive is worthless around town when the damn thing constantly gets up into 5th gear. S4 is pretty much required in order to keep the thing from constantly bogging.

I'd be so happy to be rid of that rev match bs. I brought it up with OVTune during the early stages (1.01a) as it was very sharp in reverse. It leveled out in reverse enough to not make the lurch, but it's still annoying in all gears.

This makes it annoying in 4wd high trying to manuver on sandstone clifs. Id like that gone too

    Thanks,
