    Thank You!

Edit: So the difference is they do it for you or you can do it yourself? What would be a reason to do one verses the other? Seems like the flash would be so much easier. Mail it to them. Select the tune version you want. Let them do the work to flash it. Then when you get it back it’s ready to go. Is it just the risk of it getting lost in the mail?

    Really??o_O

Your posts, just a sample below, sure do suggest otherwise. Just sayin.

I have seen nothing from @OVTune or any of his customers to suggest he is anything less than a very trustworthy, hard working, perfectionist that intends to be doing what he does for years to come. He is IMHO a car enthusiast that really wants to help anyone he can get the most out of thier vehicle be it a Toyota, Mazda, Lexus ....

Sorry you had a bad experience with SOMEONE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. As my father taught me making assumptions about person B due to an experience with person Q only make you look ... foolish (yeah that is the word he used, I am quite sure of it )

Question...if you get the top Bench Flash now. Then I choose to regear to 4.88s, go to 35s, and get a 6” lift all installed after the Bench Flash, would I need to get a Bench Flash again after all that is installed on my truck or would it be the same?

Helping a fellow enthusiast out?. Isn't that why were all here?

Take it for a rip or go for a rip. Two different things.

This is a perfect example of fake news, i.e. opinions/commentary being construed as facts or perceived facts to strike fear into people. Stick to facts man and stop with this fake news.

I hope a TW moderator can weigh in here as to whether statements like this even have a place on TW. Last thing we need is TW turning into CNN or MSNBC

I believe that the big incentive to bench flash today is that the hardware (kit) needed to flash your own truck in your own driveway is temporarily out of stock. Bench Flash is a nice alternative.

Matt have you thought of doing a repl. ECU with a (steep) core charge... ? I pay for a flashed ECU and when I receive it I return mine and get the core charge back... This would eliminate any down time on a daily driver...

The big downside I see for Mat is that he will need to stock X number of ECUs to do that. That would require a good size spending upfront for him. Then once the customer pool cools, sales drop due to 4th gen Taco or a changed engine he is potentially stuck with x number of ECUs with a small market less however many were not returned for core credit.

That type of thing works with starters and such because of the wider use of the same part for multiple vehicles. Many things, like starters, are the same internally for many different models, but the brackets, case, terminals, minor periphery parts change.

I am not sure that is, or that it is not the case for ECUs.

Someone is still gonna have to read your truck's ECU version before Mat could send you a flashed ECU.. he wouldn't know what to flash it with!

You get the same thing correct and it’s at a cheaper price? I may jump on this sooner rather than later if that’s the case. Also, where is OVT from because I’m actually going to SoCal this coming weekend/beginning of next week and possibly could just take it with me and not have to rely on the mailing system :)

Yep cheaper price basically b/c the incremental cost on top of that is the gear you have to buy to do it on your own when he gets that stuff back in stock. So it's like you can wait another 6 weeks til he gets stocked back up on the self-flash gear OR you can save nearly $300 and send over your ECU and he can bench flash it for you. Benefits to waiting are that you could try out the different tunes as you like based on the different shift settings (though Shift A is pretty great) and you would have the ability to flash between premium (91+ octane) tunes and regular 87 tunes so you'd have more flexibility. With the bench you are locked into a single tune unless you send back the ECU but they are all pretty solid just important to know what you're paying for for the cost difference (and the lead times on the self calibration kit)

These OVtune threads just blow up fast! Has anyone running 285/70/17's or better added this Tune instead of a gear change? Has it changed the over all performance enough to keep you from doing a re gear? Sorry if this has been addressed but i cant read through all these post. Thanks

different opinions on this. seems for those really into the right performance balance the preference is 4.88's and a $2k bill.

the tune addresses MOST concerns with the stock vehicle but nothing other than regearing will change the fact that 4th and 5th are light years apart. the tune will make it shift smoother and hold gears a tad longer when needed (and shift when you give it throttle vs. the delayed downshift on stock...) along with all the throttle, intake, exhaust, timing enhancements. If you have $3k burning a hole in your pocket do both - I'm sure you won't be disappointed (your credit card company will thank you too!)

Awesome. Yeah I definitely think if I’m going this route that I’d want the best which seems like “A”. Do you still get the free updates in case there is one in the future future?
