Yes. They are all out of the flash “kits” that they send to you so you can flash the truck yourself (and switch between different files if you want to). It sounds like they’ll be out until late November. They sell out fast. So you can either wait until they are back in stock, or choose the bench flash option (the one you linked) and send in your ECU for them to flash for you and send back to you.

    Thanks for clarifying, Bone.

My truck has this issue where it seems makes a “ker-clunk” noise when I step on the gas after it’s been coasting for a while. My guess is that the transmission is in a high gear but the rpms are too low and when it engages the engine the noise occurs.

I’m hoping this mod would solve that issue, among the common ones we all seem to agree the 3rd gen has.

Going to reflash 1.02C A again today, just not happy with the gear changes for some reason which doesn't reflect anything anyone else has really said except the slightly too long 1st gear.

Is the injector self cleaning cycle impacted in any way?

I was still pretty happy with A, but when driving with my little one I did sometimes wish for a bit softer 1st on acceleration. I flashed C yesterday - so far so good. Exactly as expected - more conservative 1st gear with all other engine smoothness still intact. Will drive on it for a week or so and report back on perceived differences once I have a couple hundred miles to make a fair comparison.

I would definitely recommend this tune, and the bench flash seems like a great idea if you don’t want to wait. That being said, I like having the dongle because you can decide which tune you want to use. I have 4.88 gears, and after trying the new 1.02c (A) vs (C), I prefer the C. I also plan to try out the 87 octane version, as it seems that there is not much difference in performance. It takes me longer to walk my computer out to the truck and plug it in than it does to flash. If you did not purchase the dongle, even as a supplement to the bench flash, you could be missing out. Perhaps, as someone mentioned, Mat could offer the bench flash with an option to purchase the hardware down the road, win win for everyone!

Agree. Getting your truck off stock tune is a priority for many - as it should be as you'll realize once you load the tune, but for my money I prefer having the hardware to flash on my own between octanes / shift settings and - if I were to have a warranty concern - I can quickly flash back to stock tune.

If there is someone in your area with the hardware and the tune, OP mentioned in the other thread about how the tune itself is about 300+ and the hw is 400+. If I had 2 taco's, I could use the full kit on one, and buy just the calibration for the 2nd for an additional 300. This could be an option for some of yall if you have someone near by with the kit.

EDIT, also if he is still doing this as well.

I wouldn't think he messed with the injector cleaning (and I still hear the diesel-y clicking noises) but in general I always hear less chirping of the fuel pump on premium fuel

I had 1.02b before I did my regear, and I was very happy with it, and would purchase it again in a flash (see what I did there). That being said, I much preferred 1.02b with the regear, and 1.02c is even better. I wanted the rehear to help with torque and acceleration, not necessarily with gear searching, as the tune took care of this. My regear was only $1700, but that might be because I have a sport with the smaller differential.

I get it, but it only took you about 3 months or so to make this truck much better from what I've read. It's too bad they didn't put a little extra time into it.
On the other hand, you ended up with a sweet opportunity! Good work!

For comparison sake I flashed from Shift A to C a few days ago... I really like it, feels smoother and more natural on shifting to me honestly. Shift A feels faster off the line with more PUNCH if that’s what you’re into but for a bit smoother transition from takeoff to acceleration I’m really enjoying shift C - power is still there though and easy to get to...

Only have about 100 mi on it right now so will report back in another 200 or so miles

    Correct me if I'm wrong
I had an sti and know many who have/had the same. If there was a failure that needed a Subaru tech to fix they were able to tell how many times the Ecu was flashed. If such issue caused the engine to fail the repair would not be covered under warranty
Not sure if toyota is similar

I've been recommending the bench tune to my firends, but one question arises.
Will they have to revert back to the stock file to pass a California Smog Test when it rolls around?
