OVTune/VFTuner Extortion

So if you were one of the many people that spent your money on OVTune and you would like to flash with a newer tune there is an extortion fee of $80 or your dongle is worthless. If you ask about why the F%$& you're being charged again Mat says "Its VFTuner" now.

Truck, ECU, Dongle still the same, paid for my tune from Yotawerks ($700) and oh sorry we'll need to extort another $80 if you want to do what you already paid for.

No wonder Mat was kicked off of here

 

You can upgrade to vfTuner "Lite" for free. It's only 80 I'd you want to be able to edit tunes yourself.

 

LOL, was your original purchase with them considered extortion too. People pick up snakes and are then surprised when it bites them.

 

Worst Tacoma related purchase ever for me. Bought into the hype, and learned a lesson.

 

Sorry you had that experience. I've OVTuned 2 vehicles and I wouldn't hesitate to do a third.

 

The tune was the only part that sort of worked but support was another story which is why the rebranding/renaming and possibly why he's 86'd from here.

 

Yeah that's not cool. I get where they're coming from on their end, but you should be grandfathered in if it's within 'x' amount of versions. You didn't ask them to change it, and also there's no reason why the old software shouldn't work anymore, but I guess business is business.

 

I get a license error when trying to use it.

 

I guess they left the "upgrade" fee out of the manual.

 

Same here. One of the worst purchases I have made for my Tacoma. I basically threw $700 in the trash. Live and learn, Ill never buy into the hype of something like that again.

 

If you want to cause yourself some more brain damage its only $80 but hurry before Mat changes the name and its another fee.

Im Canadian so it was over a grand in the trash lol I feel your pain. Apparently a lot of user made tunes are better, but I’m over it and have spent enough. Still happy with the truck, just wanted better throttle response.

 

I'm trying to install one of those cool user made tunes but it requires me to send Mat another $80, thats the rub with the whole experience.

$700 for a tune??? I paid $450CDN (that's less than $350USD) for a M/T specific Coyoza tune and I am very happy with the greatly improved throttle response at low rpm.

 

Yep, that was the buy in cost in 2018 when I fell for the hype.

 

He's referring to the YotaWerx supercharger tune, not N/A.

Incidentally if you're happy with Coyoza, YotaWerx (the original owners/creators of Coyoza), are releasing an updated tune now named Blackhawk that absolutely blows the Coyoza tune released previously out of the water.

 

lol at people trying to "tune" a N/A pickup truck with a dog of a motor to start with.
