I have a bone stock SR and there’s a member of a Tacoma group I follow how is offering tunes for a great price, but I just wonder if it’s worth it now, since I’m still bone stock.

I would get one of the updated performance tunes from a member on here. Made a huge difference over OVtune 2.0 on my truck. Better performance and better mileage than stock.

Yes. Worth it. But read other threads. No reason to start another

    Have you ?

2017 MT here. Mostly stock ....... OV tune made a great improvement for me ....... worth it.

I can't speak for the new trucks ( I see the OP is a 2020 ) .....but, from what I've read of the more resent
models that have updated their ECU's ( OVtuned ) ........ they seem satisfied.

I put one on, i got the 9drive for $50 off Amazon. But they seem to be going for around $80 now on ebay.

It works great, and made my truck much more responsive with the lift, added weight, and 10 ply MTs on my 2.7 manual. It helped to regain a little Oomph.

I think its a great bang for the buck, and surprised they are not more popular on this site, yet.

I didn't find much in the way of reviews ...... it sounds like a Pedal Commander type of device.

It seems that it doesn't actually make any changes in the ECU ...... but, it plays with the "tip-in"
of the throttle pedal. So, no real performance gains ? Please correct me if I've mis-spoken.

    And they never will be...

All they do is modify the tip in of the throttle. I've read some not so good things happen using those devices.

OVTune can do that properly + a million other things. With the addition of VFtuner, you can get your truck tuned by members on here for pretty cheap.

I had the Sprint booster and now on an ov tunes latest updates. Night and day difference, so much more fun to drive, pedal response is the same as my sprint booster setting, shifts better and holds 6 gears perfect. I was in the same boat as you and I loved the Sprint Booster and would still use it if it had not been for a member that lives close to me who tuned it. I love it!
