I'm just south of Dallas and today we have had 8" and still snowing. I have not seen snow in this area like this since I was a kid. I've driven in snow quite a bit but today was not my day. Heading home from work I got less than 2 miles from the house and off the road the Tacoma went. The major traveled roads were fine but I live out in the country and going around a 90 degree turn I met a car. I pulled slightly to the right and got into some ruts that put me in the ditch. My 99 Prerunner was stuck. Fortunately a man in a new Ford 4X4 came along and pulled me out.
Well I got home and my wife asked me to take my daughter to my mother in laws to sit with her. I decided to take her Maxima since it is front wheel drive, and believe it or not I got stuck again. Going down a country road I met a car. Moved over and got into some 12" snow and boom it's stuck.
About 5 minutes later a deputy came by and pulled me out. I dropped her off and headed home. (I'm in for the night)
Now Ive driven in snow quite a bit. I used to deliver mail for the post office on a rural route and never had this much trouble.
Glad I don't live up north.

We got around 8" in Lakewood (Dallas). Here's a pic of my truck covered in the white stuff:

I know this isn't a big deal to the yankees among us, but for a Texas boy, that's some serious snow!

The weather forecaster predicted a snow storm with at least 6" up here. They were saying it probably would be close to 8". Many schools were closed. State workers like myself had a paid day off (sweet!). And guess what.....we had no more than 2 inches. lol

I live in South East Alabama. I am about an hour north of the Gulf of Mexico. We got about 2 and a quarter inches yesterday. The last time it snowed good here was back in 1993.

Dunno the totals....but we've had more snow this year than any year 'on record'.

    16" last Saturday
    20" this past Wednesday

It's been a hell of a lot!!! And we're supposed to get more on Monday!
