Do they give you false alerts often, find them annoying, love it?

I get the occasional false alert for lane change.... but it happens because of aggressive lane shifts (not me) that the truck picks up on, assuming I’m not going to turn in time. Mostly in construction zones. I’ll admit it’s warned me a few times about wandering a little. At first I was grumpy about it, but then had to admit it was probably right. That’s a good thing I believe.

I’ve had it squeak at me about braking once or twice, and even had it hit the brakes for me once: highway on ramp and it backed up super fast with everyone braking. I was already off the gas and about 0.3 seconds from the brake pedal. Interesting aspect was that it was a very momentary backup and I got off the brake quick but it was slower to respond and was still braking.

I’ve left the adaptive cruise alone since around here it doesn’t work so well with the current speeds and gear hunting. I have the OVTune, but haven’t installed yet. Will do so when final version is out. I think that’ll solve problems. It will follow closer than my wife’s Bimmer, which is a good thing. Hers stays so far back that people are always cutting in.

All in all, I’d say it’s not very obtrusive and I’d take it again for the limited price I had to pay.

I turned everything off on mine , annoying as shit.auto headlights turned off to. The only thing I want to try is the new cruise control one of these days.

Doesn't bother me much and never had a "false alert" while driving normal. As stated you can turn everything off, I rarely use the lane departure but when I do it's spot on, it will activate if you change lanes without a turn signal but if you use your indicators it won't activate a warning. I've had the crash avoidance annunciation come on a few times but usually when someone pulls out in front of me and they decide to take their time accelerating and I come up on them fast.

The cruise control thing is pretty slick. I set it to 75 mph (in a 75 zone) and was cruising in the center lane behind a Tundra and I noticed I was only going 71 mph, then realized I had the cruise set to give the most distance, I changed lanes and it sped right up.

I've used the auto high beam to test it but that's about it, I usually leave it off.

I actually enjoy TSS, adaptive cruise control is a beauty on a long drives, automatic high beam feature is also a great help, especially when I am doing long drives and can accidentally forget to turn high beams off when traffic in opposite direction is coming. Lane departure works without issues too, even on the backroads with no artificial lights.

I would say TSS is well worth it.

I like all of it, except the LDA, which can get annoying on curvy roads. However, it’s super easy to turn that on and off. The adaptive cruise is just great.

I will be making a trip to Florida from Pennsylvania soon and I will probably turn on all the TSS crap for it,but I can't wait to try the adaptive cruise control all I hear about it is how great it is. I'm only turning on the TSS for added safety reasons in case I get drowsy (18/20 hr drive).

In the first 5 hrs of ownership, the lane departure warning was annoying enough for me to turn off. I drive sober, so I can’t really see a use, LOL!!
The front collision alert, I left on, but dialed the sensitivity down. I was driving down the interstate on the way home from buying the truck, and the road curved just enough before going under an overpass that it beeped, and flashed that BRAKE! Warning, thinking I was headed for the support pillar.(I guess)
Scared the shit out of me! Turned down the sensitivity, no more worries. I don’t want it hitting the brakes for no good reason.
The adaptive cruise is kind of cool, definitely not a must have for me though. Haven’t played with the auto brights yet.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised with my '17 auto headlights, because they actually also turn on the taillights too. Notice how many people drive around in the dark without taillights, 'cause people assume they have lights with their auto light setup.

    Smart move Toyota!

Does anyone know how it is in rain? I live in Oregon and it rains most of the year. I've read that Honda's Sensing sucks in extreme weather and must be turned off in fog, snow, and heavy rain

I haven’t tried the auto high beams yet but everything else I really like. The cruise control is works great. The LDA can get a bit annoying at times, like in constructions zones.

I like the Auto Headlights on my 17 also, I set the switch last March when I bought the truck and have not touched it again. I don't know how the Auto High Beams on the TSS would be.

My experience with it Honda's in my parents CR-V in the rain threw off the sensors and it errored out. In my wife's rav4 it hasn't errored yet in 2 years. Rain or snow.

The radar cruise control makes my commute so much better. I can drive the entire 30 miles without touching the gas or break at all. This includes the expected slowdowns from 75 to 35 in a couple of spots - the truck automatically breaks, then gets back to 75 when clear. The only issues I've noticed are:

    1. It is not the "full" adaptive cruise control, which appears to only be on the Camry and a few other models. Ours will kick off at 20mph. So, when the car in front of you is stopping and the truck is automatically stopping too, at 20mph it just stops braking which scares the shit out of me. The Camry will do full stop-and-go traffic automatically according to the Toyota website.
    2. If you're on a multi-lane road and the lane next to you slows, but your lane is clear, the truck sometimes starts braking hard. I am concerned it will one day cause an accident since the truck is essentially brake-checking the person behind me. This usually happens when there is a curve that I haven't hit yet - so I'm driving straight, but the lane that's slowing cuts across the nose of my truck. It must not be smart enough to see the white lines and follow the curve to see that my lane is actually clear. If I am already in the turn, it will not pick up the drivers in the lane next to me. So it must be smart enough to read the steering angle and "look" off to one side once in the turn.

It's not perfect but overall I like to use it.

Drove mine across country last week. The cruise control was the best thing ever! Speeds up, slows down, brakes to hold specific distance between cars ahead. So awesome! Easiest cross country trip ever

Adaptive cruise is great except on sweeping curves where it sees the car in the next lane as being in front of you and slows down. But that’s to be expected.

Lane departure works fine and if you use your turn signal will never false alert you.

I’ve not had any alerts to brake. I turned down the sensitivity to the lowest level.

I love it. It’s the reason why I went for 18 vs the 17.

The brake alert beeped at me once falsely, but it was do to a very sharp turn at pretty good speed with a brick wall in front so it was warranted.

My lane drift doesn’t even turn on until a certain speed, on top of that, I never had it go off on accident as long as I use my turn signals.

I use the adaptive cruise control a lot even in heavy traffic. I even did a test to see how far it’ll slow down so I used adaptive cruise control on a highway that I knew will end up in a stop light. I was already behind someone and it slowed all the way down to 10 mph, but the light turned greenso I didnt get to test out whether it will do a complete stop.

Honestly not a fan of the braking warning. I have lane departure turned off, have yet to figure out the cruise control thing (you can change the distance it uses somehow).. only reason I have an 18 over 17 was I got it cheaper

Everyone has fairly covered most of the details, but I wanted to mention that all of these things have sensitivity settings. Although I’m relatively new to the truck, I just finished a 600+ mile trip and dialed in the LDA, PCS, and DRCC pretty well. If I had a complaint, it would be that activating the cruise goes to DRCC and only a long press selects traditional locked speed. This should have been swapped or used a selection switch. You can’t switch between them either without turning off, back on, setting again. I’m also a little puzzled why they didn’t create a cruise control screen for the Information Display that used the steering wheel controls. It would have been more intuitive and easier to control and make selections. They probably could still integrate it with an update. Doing that initially would have relegated Cruise Control to an on/off button, much like Honda, etc.
