While in DRSS, press the button on the steering wheel above the LDA button, that is the selector. These are in the lower right of the wheel. LDA button is the one with the truck image angled between two lines (turns off/on). DRSS is the one that looks like an echo with the front of a truck image (selects range). LDA and PCS are configured in the information display. Yep, I know it’s not as intuitive as it should be.

I live in Oregon and have zero issues so far. I also turned down all sensitivities to minimize false alerts.

The TSS is the reason I got my 18 DCSB Sport. The lane departure can sometimes be annoying, but not enough for me to turn it off. I love the adaptive cruise control - a must for long trips. Over all very pleased with all the TSS features so far.

On a side note, I've noticed that when I first get in and turn on the truck the steering has a slight electric shimmy from side to side, as if it's calibrating or something. Does anyone know what that is all about. I'm thinking it's a part of the TSS but haven't gotten around to asking anyone.

Coming from my 09 DCSB OR could not be happier:thumbsup:

Like the one guy said before the only reason I got the 2018 was because it was a hell of alot cheaper than a left over 2017,why I have no idea.I will try to stay as old school as possible I don't need or want anyone besides me having control of my vehicle, hence thats why it's currently shutoff.

    Too much.
I find the TSS to be really cool. The cruise is sweet as well. I shut off the lane departure.

How are you turning LDA off? I set the warning to "OFF" in the multi function screen and turned the sensitivity down as well. Still beeps at me endlessly while trying to avoid potholes and driving windy back roads.

I think there's a steering wheel button, right side, below traveling distance for ACC.

I don't think it is part of TSS. Only the models with electric power steering will actively steer. The Tacoma, Tundra, and maybe one of the SUVs are hydraulic while the rest of the Toyota lineup is electric. All the other cars will not only beep at you but will also actively steer the car back into the lane.

Thank you, I found it. I was used to my wifes 2016 Rav4 which has all the off options in the MFD. Thanks for the heads up!

On another side note, not sure if it's only '18 specific, or for that matter 3rd Gen specific. But there is Drive Start Control which I believe, if I understood it correctly, will shut off the engine momentarily or reduce power significantly in the case that the gas and brake pedals are pressed simultaneously below a certain speed or from driving from a stop. Add TSS and I'm sure it gets even more complex. Good thing is that it can be shut off via the Auto LSD button or when engaging 4LO. Which is a good thing for wheelin'. The former is a help for me as I have to merge onto the 27 with quick flowing traffic. So I engage ALSD to use my left foot for braking and right for giving it gas to merge on as quickly and as safely as possible. For those that shut off TSS, I'd imagine it shuts off DSC also.

My truck seems to apply the brakes to slow the truck to the cruise setpoint, when I am descending hills. I find it weird. In previous vehicles, the cruise setpoint is a floor and the vehicle would not ever apply the brakes.

On the other hand, the Ontario Provincial Police will not collect as much road tax from me by camping out at the bottom of hills as is their practice. So it's all good.

I don't mind it, kind of like it and like the fact that it's not intrusive. I would NOT want the "assist" version like the vans and sedans have.

    • I haven't used radar cruise control.
    • BSM is OK, I like that I can turn it off.
    • Lane departure warning works well, and I like that I can turn it off.
    • Auto high beams are nice but need to be slightly more sensitive, so I don't use it.
    • Early collision warning, works OK.

The 18 was cheaper than a 17?? That's surprising to me. Wonder why that is.

The reason that the 2017 is more expensive than the 2018 is because people do not want that safety stuff and have to turn it off like you are. So you bought the safety stuff and have to turn it off every time some people would rather pay more for the 17 and not have to worry about turning it off or any future issues that’s why it’s a premium.

I have been watching inventories at my local dealerships for a planned purchase. There's been a handful of 2017 that haven't moved yet this year but the 2018s seem to cycle fairly regularly.

    Yes of course ,
I’m sure MOST people would go for the 2018. Those 17s are for special people and the dealer knows it that’s why they’re holding their price and they’re still there. Dealers don’t hold on to old inventory for no reason. If there was no market those 17’s would have been blown out along time ago.

Same dealer's are offering a $750 rebate on the 17s which is common on camry or rav4 but unheard of on Tacomas in this market.
