If you owned "hi-cap" mags prior to the ban, it would be perfectly legal to use them in a Mini 14, any other "featureless" rifle, or any registered assault weapon

just to clarify DO NOT bring 11+ rnd magazines into the state. even possession is illegal. (unless their pre-ban which if youve never lived in CA before than there is no way you could have bought them in the state pre-ban)

Didn't I say that? He can bring them if he takes them apart and does not re-assemble them in the state

I didnt read any comments, but i can tell you the regulations that i know. 10 round mag.a "bullet button" must be installed to release the mag. Heres where it gets tricky. The only thing that classifies the gun to be an "assault rifle" is the pistol grip and an adjustable stock and a flash supressor and the round size is 223 or larger(IM not 100% on all these). If it has those things then it must have the bullet button. All in all owning an AR in california is pointless unless you use it for hunting because the point of these rules is to make california an "assault rifle free" state. *BTW* all of this doesnt matter if you have a .22. i have a wannabe AR that shoots .22 and it has all those things listed above ad it is perfectly legal, and just as fun to shoot.
