    Hello!

I'm new around here and I was looking for a little light into a problem I
i'm running in my 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road 3.5L. I'm was getting the error:

"P0052" - Oxygen (A/F) Sensor Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

    And

"P0032" - Oxygen (A/F) Sensor Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

I took it to a local repair shop, who have done other small jobs for me, so they could take a look at it and they recommended to remove all 4 and do a deep clean to them. I left my car there and they cleaned all 4 from large amounts of carbon build up. They said it was because my car sat too much time without starting it up and doing proper maintenance to it. So at the end when he tested it, the same error persisted but this time all 4 sensors were showing up in the scan. He is suggesting to buy all 4 sensors once more and replace them completely. The question is, is it possible they mistakenly swapped a lower sensor with the top ones or maybe put a bank 2 sensor in a bank 1? Or could it actually be that they need to be replaced. I'm really looking for answers since I believe the car is too new for all 4 oxygen sensors to be showing up.

The emissions warranty is longer than the bumper to bumper. As soon as the shop suggested deep cleaning the o2 sensors I would have asked for my keys and left.

its actually shorter. Federal emissions is only 2 years/ 24k mi. So once your bumper to bumper is over at 3/36 its not covered with the exception of a few specific items unless you're in California. its 7 years/ 70k miles here on all emission components with 8/80 on specific items.

I would say an o2 sensor still falls under page 19.

I'd say the shop that the op is using has parts changers and not people that are strong in diagnostics.

Im going to visit another shop later on the week. I have to be sure that all sensors need to be replace before I waste around $500 in replacements + Labor. I'm strongly feeling that this is some electrical issue instead of the sensor itself. Only a good diagnostic will tell. Ill keep you guys posted to get further help. Thanks.

I just had all 3 catalytic converter bays replaced... Thankfully it was under warranty! They did mention something about buildup in the notes. They checked all the sensors and confirmed they were working correctly.

Changing the sensors yourself will be pretty easy, especially now that they are freshly reinstalled and not seized up. If further diagnostics calls them bad that will be an option to save some money and probably time out of your day.

O2 sensors are way less than that, usually around $60~80 each if you get the ones with a proprietary Toyota plug and $20~30 if you’re good with a soldering iron. ~10mins to replace each one (way less than 1 hour to replace all 4) so $500 including labor would be average for an independent shop. I think you need a different shop, deep cleaning O2 sensors should have been your first warning.
You had 2 errors, after they messed with them you now have 4, the shop messed something up. Either make them fix it at no cost, or go elsewhere. For the price, I’d go else where.

Page 19 lists items covered by the federal emissions warranty and not just the extended coverage. Sensors don't have the 8/80 next to it so their warranty expires with the bumper to bumper.

Agree though that the shop the op went to is clueless on trying to find the source of the problem and just want to throw parts at it.

It was just buildup in the cat bays that caused the issue. It wasn't a failure per say but it caused my check engine light to come on and the error they got back was a cat issue so they replaced them.
