I've had the dreaded P codes for awhile now. They have never stopped me from passing a California smog test. Usually I figure it's just my gas cap not sealing completely. Never really worried about it. Just cleared them and moved on with my life.

But today two new codes popped up with a "powertrain" label along with the old ones. Also followed with a flashing and disappearing maintenance required light. This has caught my attention.

Could anyone tell me specifically what these codes will do if I continue to ignore them? Or is this a pressing issue? Thanks in advance and much appreciated :)

Why not just replace the canister ? Likely will save you $$ in the long run since those codes are affecting your mpg.

Ya, I agree. The charcoal canister is on the list.

Just not a top priority at the moment. Kind of a pain to replace I hear and not cheap.

They are not easy to change, nor are they cheap.

Copy that. I'll probably swing by the junk yards by the border here in SD and see if I can find a good used one.
