    Hi All,

Novice here. Wondering if someone can help me troubleshoot a P0022 Error Code. My 2009 Tacoma has been stumbling when shifting up and down between 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th (it's an automatic)and getting really poor gas mileage and fumes seem to be very noticeable when idling. The hitch in shifting seemed to come on over time.

For a long time there were no lights on but eventually the engine and traction control lights came on and I took it to auto zone to use the code reader. If gave me the below read out. The person working the counter said they primary cause of this was a faulty cam shaft position sensor. I replaced the cam shaft position sensor in Bank 2 and the engine and traction light came back on on first start up. I decided to give it a second test drive and started it back up and both of the lights went off again. There is still a hitch in the shifting, though seems partially improved. Kind of at a loss.

Are there any other low angle things I can check into before taking to the dealership? I just had my 250,000 mile service and I'd prefer not to spend another $1,500 for them to do presumable half of what I paid for.

    Thanks much for any help.

The spark plugs were replaced in the 250,000 mile tune up which was about 500 miles ago...

Thanks for attaching the diagrams and instructions. And good question - on the first attempt I replaced the sensor in bank 1, but realized my mistake after a couple of days and more searching for diagrams. So now, the original sensor I took out from bank 1 has been put back into play in bank 2, and I left the new part in bank 1. Noob move for sure!
