hey guys i’ve been getting pending code on ultra gauge for the past few months for a P0022 and it actually threw a check engine light twice, truck runs the same as normal but how can i diagnose this? can i change the sensors? or maybe its the actual timing chain. just looking for some insight maybe somebody had this code before, just wondering what came of it.

    How many miles?

First thing with timing codes is to check oil level and condition.

VVT solenoids are relatively common to start failing when they get older.

If oil changes have been neglected the VVT screens can get clogged with crud as well.

A stretched chain is possible but I'd investigate/test the solenoid for Bank 2 first, typically a stretched chain will set a P0016/P0018.
The P0011/12/21/22 codes are typically a failing solenoid/clogged VVT screen, clogged screens are unlikely though if the engine is clean inside.

Roll the dice & throw the correct solenoid at it, especially if its easy to get to in your application.
Just did the bank 1 exhaust cam vvt / vat solenoid in my 2010 lexus rx 350 , P0015 bank 1 cam over retarded.

On the lexus bank one is in the rear by the firewall, engine sideways / front wheel drive...
I was suppose to pull the intake to access & I managed to do it without pulling the intake, wasnt fun...

I used an oem solenoid from lexus which I wasnt happy about, $200 for one solenoid...
It had 150k miles on it, oil changes every 5k...
    Its fixed....

I went & spoke to a Lexus tech & he said, they always just do an oil change & brake clean the sensors.
Majority of the time, they dont come back.
I wasnt willing to take that gamble as only wanted to do it once since it was a bear to access since I was cheating it...
