    Everyone,

I am a Toyota Certified Technician plus an ASE certified technician with 4 years and 6 ASE certs.
I wanted to bring this topic up since all I could find when researching this weird rare code. I thought it was going to be very simple. 2010 Tacoma 2TR-FE 4 Cylinder Manual in from another dealership with P106B. Very odd so I looked this code up and verified that the PIDs(indicator value) on our Techstream (scan tool) was not reading correctly. The Vapor Pump Pressure was reading at around 15-16 psi atmosphere. While the Secondary Air Pump Pressure (which there is a sensor internal to this Sec. Air Injection switching valve that monitors pressure) was reading incredibly low at -0.09 psi (which is the default apparently). So if it was reading very low the first indicator is to replace the switching valve. The next is to replace the Vapor Canister($1500 btw). The dealership where this was trying to be sold had a tech already replace the canister. Feel bad for that guy. But of course I was the moron who replaced a part as well instead of checking wires all the way back to the ECM, which monitors these readings. I only did a quick visual of the engine connectors to the switching valve and underneath to the canister.
Come to find out after replacing and tripping the light after a couple test drives, the wire that goes to the Air Pressure Sensor (Brown) was in its ID2 connector but had broken off from inside the connector itself. I felt like an ass. This connector is on the drivers side kick panel. Remove the panel and there is about 7 or 8 connector bundles. Went to inspect this connector and tugging on the ID2 harness found the Brown wire not making contact.
Come to find out that poorly installed windshields will leak water past and on to this bundle. It was dry but had evidence of past dampness. So suffice to say, it sucks, but check powers and grounds all the way to and from the component. It was just in my flat rate natures. I only blew through 200 dollars before I started really probing. The other guy blew through $1500 and an hour labor.
Hope this thread helps all and I will try and attach some pics if I can so the location of the connector can be found by all. Thanks for reading.ID2.jpg
