I have a P0240 code on the truck which indicates that a vehicle's catalytic converter is not functioning properly, and that the oxygen levels are below the desired threshold. This code is often caused by issues with the car's fuel or exhaust systems. I ran some catalytic cleaner through the fuel for 2 tanks, reset the check engine light, but it came back on the same day. The thing is, the truck is running perfect. Fuel economy has not changed. If I had a clogged converter, there would be signs. If I had an exhaust leak, I think I would hear it. Other things I have read said spark plugs could be bad, but again, the truck runs perfect. Anyone have any advise before I take it to the car doctor? The truck has 170K, but the engine only has 30k.

It's not a clogged catalytic converter, its a worn converter.

It's typically a no-symptom code and will drive fine with it on.

As long as there's no exhaust leaks its usually the cat and they need to be replaced.

To confirm you need to graph 02 sensors and see how they respond with the af sensors.

Get this fixed ASAP, my driver side cat didn’t have a gasket on it and it was throwing a CEL for forever. It was running super rich and pulling timing at WOT, and it literally cut my MPG in half after a while. Just put a gasket in and I went from 9-10 to 18-19mpg. Definitely worth getting this looked at
