    Very true. Trust me, I'm not arguing against it. I think ~6k for an engine likely to give you 300k+ miles is a total steal. Just would think twice if the truck was likely to need tons of other work in the near future

    Yeah I would not sink a lot of money into a 95 or 96.

    But I damn sure would in a 01.

    What's the reasoning behind that distinction? Updated MLS head-gaskets? TRD w/ diff lock trim? ABS?

    Yeah the pre 97/98 ish....they need a little more tlc....
    the $1000 maf airplane propeller, ECM, ect....some of these parts they no longer make.

    The ones 2003 and after are chasing down a serious electronic speed pedal problem...
    Seems that one persisted till the 2007 and after......avg repair was $2650.
    only fix for 2003/04 is salvage parts...

    2000 to 2002 is going to have the highest resale value,
    if any one should over pay for theirs, that's the years to get....

    although I dont like the coil over plug design, the twin coil one is my favorite.

    Had the motor rebuilt in mexico. Ran fine for a few months now im getting a p0450 code evap emmission control system pressure sensor. Ive had tbis code on and off for years.
