imho - save some time before any further troubleshooting & perform that compression test

I washed it once or twice
I did have a valve cover bolt that was finger tight and torqued it back.

    Hmmm...

Fast forward now I notice I only get misfires on the way home from work, after it’s sat in the sun all day. And like clockwork. The last stint didn’t show up on my code reader, just the 440 and 441 which has been there for about 10 years.

Valve cover gasket replacement time it sounds like??

Oh, and plugs are about 6 months old. Wires original. All but 1 coilpack has been replaced. Those either work or they don’t. The misfire isn’t at that cylinder. Unless #1 is closest to the firewall and not the radiator.

90 psi is a lot lower and that may be why you have the misfire. could be the head gasket going out, or a burnt valve.

Will do. Is it rocket science or just a matter of buying a few tools/gauges? I’ve never done it before, but I’m not inept.

    Reckon I’ll do some YouTubing.

it's easy. get a compression test gauge ((you may be able to borrow at parts store). remove spark plugs. adapter screws into spark plug threads (make sure you do this by hand) tighten it, connect the gauge, and tne crank the engine over a couple times.

I don't know how it is on the other engines but the 6-cylinder 5vz uses a waste spark system. If your engine is the same (you would have half the number of coils as spark plugs) a bad coil would produce misfires on two cylinders not just one.

been thinking same, but hoping not :/ last fall i did have a leaky water-pump & did not notice for a bit ... thinking could have happened during the low-water event over the course of a few months ... however wasnt driving very much at that time, but also not sure how long that had been happening (until i finally had a crack in the radiator near the inlet (most likely due to over-hot condition) and had to replace - not until then did i notice the leaky water pump only after it would cool down (pressure drop)
