Dang Toyota dealership hiring some knuckle draggers for sure! And to think people pay more because they're the 'experts'. Compression is like 9th grade auto shop level dia'nosing!

They probably charged 2 maybe 3 hours for the diag. And 3 hrs for R&R injector?

1 hour diagnosis and 2 hours to replace the injectors and fuel filter.

The parts canon is NOT a diagnostic tool, and "process of elimination" does not mean spend $5-700 of the customers money on, "we thought" or "it might be". I would file complaints with both the local BBB and with Toyota Corporate. Probably won't get you anything, but hopefully it will annoy them a little bit.

Assuming that it's a burned valve, then that's not actually a bad result; relatively easy fix, and on an engine like this, it's a good DIY job if you have basic tools.

Lol the service writer telling you to do a wet compression test

Umm.. shouldn't you guys have done that before putting injectors in it?

That's pretty ridiculous. I'd raise a stink, they pretty much owe you a refund for the diag and the injectors at this point.

So who votes new valves? I want the stage 1 head from lce. Only thing is it’s $2,300. How much should it be for Toyota to pull the head and put new valves in? I’m not very mechanically inclined so I don’t want to mess with it.

That seems high to me... I would have thought R&R was about 10 hrs and parts $250-300.

I mean the head itself is 2,300. I’ll see how much they will charge to replace the valves.

I wouldn't give them anymore business until they settle up with you over the botched diagnosis

Why do you need a new head?

cost. Might be really close to 2300 to pull the head and replace the valves and components. Just looking at all my options.

No. I’m going to ask Toyota to do that free of charge when I go talk to the service manager

So after the wet compression test I got it up to 90 psi but that’s no better. It’s still gonna leak good somewhere.

So after talking to the GM yesterday they are going to do a boroscope down the in the cylinder to look at the cylinder wall and valves free of charge. I’m going to tell them when I take it back shouldn’t this have been done in the first diagnosis process to rule out the injectors.

Tell the GM that you want a cylinder leak down test
So that way you know how well each cylinder is sealing. A dry test and wet test.
