I got the above mentioned code this afternoon and also notice that my transmission will not shift into drive. It will only go as high as fourth on the highway.

The code is for the bank one knock sensor one high... I assume that to mean it's sensing knocking in the engine.

Searching, I've seen that rodents have done a job on a number of our trucks' knock sensors. I'm not seeing any signs of that though. Can I see the knock sensors just taking the cover off or do I have use a colonoscope and go deep...

I only used branded gas and this last fill up was shell vpower when is filling up the boats gas can. Other threads mentioned bad gas as a possibility, but this is a pretty busy station I went to, so I'm gonna discount that as the issue.

What else might cause that code
    Any

Under the intake. Not a bad job. I replaced both sensors and harness because you dont want to do it twice.

Toyota says you have to pull a head to get the water pipes out. My heater hose one was leaking so I cut the brackets off and could then get them out. Reroute heater hose around engine and good to go. 3 1/2 hours all done. Parts all together were around 400 for gaskets O rings sensors and harness. If not dealer says 18 hours!

The light went out this afternoon and it shifts all the way up now.

@elliott3 damn... Haven't had to tear into this motor until now, maybe. $400., ugh. Oh well, it is what it is.
@gearcruncher this 4.0 motor is from an 05 that had 79k. The 06 original had 238k and the head gasket finally popped.

@Larzzzz , I'm having the same issue with my 09 Tacoma. The Check engine light comes on with the same code, and when I go on the interstate it wont shift up to 5th, and also the light turns off so it's only an intermittent issue. What did you find for a solution for yours?

I found the harness connector loose at the back of the engine. This was after a motor swap I had done.

I had a couple codes pop up after the swap. Both were relatively easy fixes, but were somewhat difficult to locate and identify as the culprit(s)
