They are under $100 bucks on Amazon for a economy series (as opposed to shop series for over $100) model. That's gotta be cheaper than an hour of shop labor.

Thanks. Don’t know what I’ll go with, but several videos online show a remedial one I could build for this one time use. I like the one that’s built with a soldering iron and uses baby oil to create the smoke needed.
It’ll be a few days before I can do it, but I’ll post back when I do.

Been a while, but did a smoke test with a diy smoker (jar, soldering iron, mineral oil on a rag, tubing). No leaks detected after about 15 minutes, and no EVAP codes since then either. Wondering how much summer heat affects these things? as for knock sensor codes, had one recurrence a few weeks ago, cleared and quiet since.
    Puzzling.

As of right now, yes, all codes are gone. I’ll update if/when they come back.

    Aaaandd we’re back….
This time it’s the other bank P0325. Contacted the garage that did the work, and they are willing to put it on their computer and get more info on it for me than I can get from my homeowners OBDII scanner. I’m trying to find out if a posting I saw somewhere else is possible that this could be an actual knock issue? Vs a knock sensor circuit issue.. I do have one more piece of info, that my daughter (who is primarily driving it now) said she knew it was going to throw the code, as it was lugging going uphills yesterday.

also, for those that might want to smoke test on their own, this is a pic of the Frankenstein I made to do my smoke test, worked great

Well, day before it was going in to the shop for more detailed reading, the code is gone again. With as fickle as this is, no wonder there’s hundreds of posts out there for these codes.
