So as the title says. camshaft position sensor error.

I had some trouble putting the timing chain back on, but all the marks looked like they were in the right spots.

It did start up after some unplanned issues and a dead battery.

    What did I mess up?

    Thank you for your help.

Edit: Just tried unplugging the pigtail and cleaning with some circuit cleaner. Didn't help anything.

    Ok,

Took the valve cover off to double check timing marks.

Upon further inspection there is a second mark on the harmonic balancer. About 2-3 inches after TDC. That was the mark I lined everything up with.

I don't have a don't have a dial indicator, just used a fishing rod (electrical kind) and made a mark at the top of the spark plug tube. Used that to double check where TDC was.

In the mean time I'm going to reinstall the cams and hope for the best.

Knowing it is an interference engine, how screwed am I?

This is how off the marks are.

Going to take the cams off and reset them.

So after my panic attack this morning, it seems to be running fine.
Started right up. No codes. It was a lot easier to fix than I had pictured in my head for some reason. I did end up losing a valve cover bolt in the process. No idea where it went and the fact that I'm doing this over grass doesn't help.

It's currently cooling back down. At that time I'll flush the coolant system again and do the 2nd oil change.
Hopefully after that it'll be good to go.
