My charcoal canister was replaced by the dealership again because for the second time since I've owned the truck, gas started spewing out of the filler neck. Now that I have a (second) new charcoal canister, I have had a P0442 (small EVAP leak) code pop up every two weeks since. I tried resetting but it came back. Took it to the dealership, they said it was the "gas cap", replaced it, low and behold, the CEL came back. Now I'm back again at the dealership. I'm pretty damn sure it's either an improperly installed or defective charcoal canister, since the CEL never came on until it was replaced. They "say" they did a smoke test and tested the VSV, but at this point I am not buying it. If they don't fix it this time I'm going somewhere else or I'm doing it myself. Any suggestions?

Apparently it was a loose hose on the charcoal canister. Time will tell.

Charcoal canister never fail on these trucks due to location ( unless you repeatedly over-fill tank at fill up). The 2 valves under hood on driver's side along top get sticky... yielding this code. Lube hose clamps with SILICONE wait a couple of days, then slide off hose and spray a GOOD lube into orifices and put hoses back on. Unhook battery for 1 beer then reconnect then light is out for 25,000 miles or so then just repeat!
