I swapped my gas cap with a few different Auto store caps. Some seem to work for a while but i got the code again. It'll go away a couple days then come back for a couple days.

Is there anything better than a New OEM Gas Cap?

Is there anything I could do to give me a better seal? ....like a grease or a gasket around the bare metal gas intake?

    Thanks!

OEM is the only gas cap that seems to work on Toyotas, others are hit or miss.

That being said if the sealing surface is damaged or pitted from rust then nothing is going to seal well.

Coming up on seven years with a Gates locking cap, 31840. Never given me a code, but, sometimes, you don't need the key to remove it.

Any others are a hit or miss,I tried a bunch of locking caps, and ended up back stock as I got tired of codes coming up monthly.
