Checked your battery voltage with engine idling and headlights on?

Did you ever find the problem? My 2005 just started doing this today. Radio works great but no blower and power windows and CEL on and abs / parking brake. I have a code for P0500 just like most people but you seem to be the only person losing all power inside like my truck. Have not had time to sit down and track anything down.

I did figure it out I think. My alternator wasnt charging battery...so check for low voltage like the guy after me suggested. If it’s below like 12.5 inside your fuse box is a negative ground. Remove bolt clean thoroughly and that fixed my problem. I was swearing it was my ecm. Your computer will probably need a couple resets after to clear p0500 but after that it stayed off. Good luck

Ya I guess I should have looked at this last night lol. My battery drain all the way down to 2 volts on my way to work and left me hanging. Charging system is not work and battery went dead. New battery and alternator sitting on my work right now waiting to be installed.

So I just found this thread as i'm suddenly having the same issue. The kicker is, my '17 only has 5300km.

I did however, wire up an auxiliary USB port in my overhead console to have a nice short cable going to my dash cam.

To wire that up, I ran the cable through the headliner, down the pillar and to an add a fuse.

From what I read here, as my speedometer and tachometer are fine, it's likely a connection behind the dash. Where exactly should I start checking? Any suggestions?

Did you use the correct style add a fuse (mini fuse)?
And what circuit did you tap? I would start checking fuses visually and with volt meter

I used the mini, and I tapped the hazard for the additional USB, and a few weeks ago when I put the anytime front/rear cameras I tapped the power outlet fuse.

Hmmm, so it could very well be as simple as a fuse?

Always check fuses first. If a seemingly random CEL (such as speed sensor) gets tripped after electrical work has been done its most likely something else.

The ECU doesn't have a code to tell you that you boogered up your dash cam install

If you can't figure it out you can always pull the stuff you installed and take it to the dealer because you still have warranty. Just don't leave traces

So I checked all the fuses in all locations and they're all fine.

I picked up this on sale today for $20 http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-smart-meter-0520726p.html

So my next step is to go testing under there. Any suggestions? I'm figuring only checking connections in the areas my hands were to start, hopefully just a harness loose.

If all the fuses are good you need to check continuity in the wires which is a major PITA.
Could have shorted something out by accident...

Check for power under the hot side of the fuses, then replace them and check power at th destination. I know this sucks because it can take for ever but it's the only correct way to isolate your problem without blindly growing parts at it

Pretty out of the blue. I had an issue before with I believe it was the IG1 fuse blowing but I fixed that. Was a short in a wire on the reverse light. Don’t think that is related to this.

I have the same issue as the OP. CEL with P0500 with no other issues.

Interestingly, a few weeks ago my fuel gauge was acting it. It was stuck on E with the light on for a week or so and then resolved itself. Perhaps that is related? I'm thinking that I'm likely going to find a bad instrument cluster.

Can someone confirm that Vehicle Speed Signal No.1 comes from the wheel sensors and not the transmission sensor as OP states?

Also, can someone confirm which sensors the speedometer indicates?

I confirmed VSS 1 comes from the ABS system, through the combination meter for the speedo and odometer, and then to the ECU.

I saw the signal coming out of the combo meter acting up on mine but the speedo was fine so I had the dealer replace the combo meter. It seems to have solved my problem.

It was around $450 installed (1 hour labor at 135/hr, 295 for the part, plus taxes and fees). I went through the parts counter and they discounted the part price significantly for me.

You think that would fix my problem? Everything works fine. I have p0500 with speed sensor a. Is that the code you had or just p0500
