P0500 code--Vehicle Speed Sensor

What year truck do you have?

 

2006 tacoma lifted up 7 inches for some reason the speed sensor a p0500 is the problem.

 

What does the combo meter do? Is it the speedometer. I replaced 1 sensor. Im gonna replaced the other soon

Was your cel reading speed sensor a p0500

 

Yeah but in my case it was due to a bad cabin fuse box

 

You think i should replaced the other sensor first

 

No, make a list of all your symptoms and note when they appeared and if it correlates to any work being done on the truck and what it was

 

I have a small rough shift thats about it. Everything works fine speedometer,and ect

What year is yours? Mine is
13 years old and this is the first repair it’s needed. I’m an electrical engineer and can tell you that electronics don’t last forever. I know that I have nothing to complain about.

Its been lifted recently 7 inch max trac lift

 

Have you verified if you have any ABS codes?

In your case I can see how it would be likely that a wheel speed sensor got screwed up by the lift.

 

I have no abs light just a cel p0500 speed sensor a

 

What you are describing sounds similar to what mine was doing. I have a 2005 with 106k. See below thread I started:

I'm betting that whoever ruined that perfectly good Tacoma with a 7" lift also fubared the wiring to the speed sensor.
If that's so replacing sensors won't help. Gotta repair the wiring

 

That’s exactly what I was suggesting, but it seems that should cause an ABS code.

 

You can have ABS codes thrown without the ABS light coming on
