Well now that I have the truck running (new head) and safe to drive (new brakes at all 4 corners) I need to tackle why the speedo isn't working. I have the basic instrument cluster with just a coolant temp gauge, speedo, and fuel gauge.

When I looked the VIN up through the Toyota service network it appears a previous owner had it in to a stealership and they "found the wiring was incorrect and fixed it". The speed sensor has been replaced by previous owner as well.

I forgot to look and see if the odometer is working, will check tomorrow when I drive it.

Can I swap in a cluster with tach? Is it a plug and play swap? Thanks guys.

Yes the cluster is plug and play. Make sure the year and motors are the same 4cyl and 6cyl tach's are different. 4Runner and Tacoma instrument clusters are interchangeable too, just match year and motor.
