Just changed my fuel filter the other day and I noticed my check engine light is on now. Went back and checked everything that I touched and made sure all the fittings were tight, unhooked the battery to reboot the computer. And the light still comes on. Took it to advance auto and had them read the code and "p0505 idle air control" comes up. I did some research and i guess alot of problems arise from carbon building up in the throttle body and the IAC, however I took a look at the throttle body and it was quite clean, and also, it idles fine; where many people with throttle body and IAC problems state idling problems. Any thoughts/ suggestions. Newbie here, thanks yall

Try cleaning it out. I used some MAF cleaner and it worked like a charm. Think I had to take the throttle body off but I cleaned it all out as best as I could.
And you could simply have buildup inside the iac but not the throttle body. Did u take the throttle body off or just open the butterfly and look inside? Mine looked clean too but after I took it off it had a little bit of buildup that I didn't see at first.

I'm not sure what's in that iac, but I wouldn't use anything else but MAF cleaner. It's a bit 'milder' than say throttle body cleaner. Takes a bit more to get it clean but better than risking melting that plastic connector that is attached to it.
