When placed in park the p is lit up and the r is lit. Truck is 07 4.0 auto 168000 miles and drives and shifts great. My guess is neutral safety switch. Any other opinions appreciated. Any tricks to get switch off as I hear they can be a bitch. Tia

I agree with your guess and they can be a real bitch to get removed. Are you in the great salt belt?
Start early and get some penetrating oil and start soaking it a few days before you start working on it. Go slow and take your time and it will come off. It also may break in the process... Just be patient.

When you install the new one align it properly.

Good luck and I hope it comes out easy for you.
