Hey, I drove home today and noticed my CEL light came on. Pulled codes and I got the P0705 code. It seems to drive/shift normal. However, when the truck is in Reverse, on the PRNDL in the gauges, the "R" AND the "D" are lit up.

Same when I put it in drive; the "R" and "D" are lit up in the gauge cluster.

Also, the truck wants to stall out if it's in Reverse with your foot on the brake. But I suspect that's something to do with the fact that the truck is confused as to which gear it's in. Because it probably idles differently if its in park/neutral vs drive/reverse.

From my research on here, some people say to do the following
    -Check for blown IG1 fuse
-Check for water/corrosion by junction box in drivers footwell.
-Check Park/Neutral Safety switch for corrosion.

    Anything else?

If your reverse lights work, it is probably not the IG1 fuse.

See Here for where to look for corrosion.

Then check the actual Neutral Safety Switch.
This would be my guess as to the problem. I’d probably start there. But that’s just me.

I got a new Park Neutral Safety switch from ToyotaPartsDirect for about $100. Getting the old on off the truck was a pain. It was probably original to the truck. I pried the old one off and came off in multiple pieces. I ended up having to chisel off the little piece that slides onto the square shaft.

But I installed the new switch, and it resolved my issue. Kinda funny, this issue popped up when I rolled (gently) into a wall with my hitch ball.

    Thanks for the update.
I’m betting it was a coincidence.
The PNS is kind of known for corroding.

Good to hear you got it fixed.
