    Hello
I have a 2002 Tacoma 4WD with about 70000 on it. About a week ago, my engine light come on and stayed on a solid yellow. I checked it out and here is the readings.
    P1135 air-fuel sensor heater.
    $10.
I've researched it and it seems to be in front of the front catalytic converter. With a $10. estimate, it must not be the sensor itself because they are expensive. Hoping some of you had run into this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank you.

Speaking as a former tech, 98% of the time this is a bad O2 sensor heater. The rest of the time it was a burned wire.

Get a wiring diagram and tap the heater wire at the sensor connector. If you have voltage there, you have a bad heater and need to replace the sensor.

    P1135 - Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1

this code means the heater element in the air-fuel sensor is bad (or a shorted wire). Only fix is to replace it

I know you can't put much store in the $10. estimated cost, but I thought maybe it wouldn't be too bad. I've already did a lot of research and know it is just one piece, the harness and the sensor and that will probably be expensive. I just came on here hoping some else had this code at one time. Since it's mentioned a lot, I guess it's a good income for toyota.

You know the $10 is the module ID or something like that, right? It’s not the cost of the sensor!
You can buy the Denso sensor online for like half of the toyota price but you will have to do a little research to get the correct one, lots of info on here for those that search!

Yeah, as soon as I saw the code, I googled the sensor. I read where some found it for about $80. and can be upward to $200. The Autell device I have, had that $10. estimated cost, so I knew it wasn't the cost of a sensor and mechanics won't even say hello for $10. As soon as it dries off I going to check the connection and hopefully it's just loose or something. Thanks to you and the others for your responses.
