I recently bought a 'like new' 2017 TRD Offroad with 30k miles on it. I've fueled it two time since I've owned it and both times it has taken me 30+ min to get it started after fueling.

First time I left the gas cap off and disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes and then after about 5+ times swinging it, it finally started (struggled). Then I ran it for the last 2 weeks and have not had a single issue starting it etc.

Go to fuel again this morning and the same thing happens... There happens to be a mechanic @ the pump behind me and he put his computer on the car and the fault he got was P160400 - Startability Fault.

Any ideas wtf this could be?! Literally only happens after fueling. I tried it just now where I removed the gas cap for about 5 minutes (without putting any fuel in) to see if that was the problem but it started up straight away. So only seems to happen when fuel is added to the equation..

TRDL: I fuel truck - wont start for a while and then eventually does. P160400 - Startability Fault.

Startabiltiy fault is on many vehicles, its non-warning code that is stored to help with diagnostics.

If the truck is having a tough time after refueling it typically is the evap purge valve.

So you can do two things, clamp off the red hose with something that isnt abbrassive, or simply remove the hose I marked while refueling.

If it starts right up, its the purge valve.

You can also confirm the valve is leaking by removing the blue hose while its refueling and seeing if you can hear vapor get past the valve.

The purge valve is supposed to inject vapor while the truck is running, but sometimes while refueling the valve leaks and lets in fuel vapor causing a MEGA rich condition.
